I don't consider him to have had a first recruiting year. He was basically hired during the tournament at this time just over two years ago. Have you looked at our current class? The fact that all of our players are already signed with the exception of Ross-Miller? Do you know why that is? Do you have any clue when the early signing period is? You call these excuses but they're facts. His first class was a wash. That happens quite frequently in basketball. The one guy that we looked at was an unsigned center that is a current scrub on UCLA's fledgling team.

You do the math for his first year. If that ability is within your grasp. I'm not really sure if it is.

umm did i not mention players? Trust me the 3 players that i mentioned you will see them on TV and you will remember this thread. 3 years ago was the same situation, Simmons, Washington, Dunn, Carter the kid from Thibidoux all played in the Top 28 and we missed all of them! This year there are a few kids who will be awesome players that we are missing out on. I watched Matt play he is good pure scorer, but Galloway, Brown & Williams are just as good if not all around better players. Another thing i clearly stated "LOUISIANA PLAYERS!" I believe our roster needs a makeover! Release some & make room for new players!

So you're complaining about guys on Baylor's team that Brady never recruited?

To Trent's credit, this year was basically the first year that he could really recruit like he wanted. Could he have done better with the 2010 class in Louisiana? Yes but does he have a great class nonetheless? Yes as well. It is a win/win this year but for a coach to say he wanted to recruit La. hard and then he doesn't, that leaves a lot of people questioning him. He is doing a good job so people ease up on him.

How is Galloway a better player than Derenbecker all things considered? Because his team was better overall this year despite the fact that galloway couldn't even score in double figures while Derenbecker carried his team? The fact that Derenbecker is a really smart kid, that is tall, rangy, and can shoot from the perimeter and Galloway is another mid sized two guard with a shaky perimeter game? Yeah, we chose so poorly. I like Brown and I like williams. I think Brown is a guy that could really be good down the line; however, I think Williams is an undersized small forward at this stage that will take a few years at the next level to find his spot on the court.

Like I said, it's not football. You have to make tough decisions in basketball with players that all possess good skills in varying aspects of the game. I hope all four players turn out good, but am happy with having Derenbecker because he's the best pure shooter of the group.

I am not pointing fingers. I am asking why do these players not want to stay home and play in Louisiana. I understand the limits in basketball but some of these players from both coaches seem like roster fillers, when there is better talent in our own state. Maybe i should have said all season and not just the tourney.

Just on the face, without knowing where players are on the staff's board, it seems as though our priority for guard players was on perimeter shooting. All three guys signed right now, Stringer, Derenbecker, and Turner are all known as really good perimeter shooters. Doesn't hurt that two of those guys are very long as well.

What are you trying to say? Seems like you are implicating something bigger than the statement! I said "all around" i even stated that Derenbecker is an awesome shooter especially @ 6'7 and they both should be on the team. Galloways ability to create for himself and his defense to me makes him a better all around player. Yes his team was better so he didn't have to score but when the game was on the line the ball was in his hands. Derenbecker did great shooting over the top of 1A players but @ LSU he will not be able to create for himself which is fine. I love the fact of having a 6'7 shooter rolling off of screens hitting shots, but as far as the whole game, ball handling LG, shooting MD creating LG defense LG which to me makes Galloway a better all around player!

I think part of the reason was due to no big men in the state really and with trent coming in after the signing period made it kinda hard to get a big man that he felt comfortable with.

Derenbecker has performed just as well on the AAU circuit. His ranking isn't simply because he played well against 1A teams, but founded upon his showing at camps and summer ball. And Galloway is playing the same teams in 1A. Not to mention, I don't take much stock in such things. Gathers is playing for Riverside. Temple and Davis played for U-High. These players are judged based on their ability outside of high school basketball.

John Brady. He would rather recruit all the way across country. He wanted to build up his frequent flier miles. We will be in better shape soon.

Other than Greg Monroe, I can't even remember the last highly recruited big man out of La...

I don't believe all those players were seniors in the same season.

Three years ago LSU signed the following:

Anthony Randolph NBA lottery pick

Marcus Thornton SEC Player of the Year, two time All SEC, now one of best NBA rookies

Bo Spencer top 15 SEC scorer, starter on SEC champion

Quinton Thornton, valuable backup center on SEC title team

Garret Green, developing post man, jury still out

Did any of the players you listed even win a conference title?

you kidding?

then how do you explain the final four run with ALL Louisiana players on the team (not even including Brandon Bass the year prior)

and then Marcus Thornton, Randolph, etc.

There's a lot to say about Brady - but he got a lot of the local guys to STAY

I guess watching the state championships this year and seeing all of the players who are going to other states to play ball kinda pissed me off! My bad, just wondering.

LSU didn't lose anyone in state this year that they wanted. You can argue that the coaches made poor choices not going after these guys over Stringer and Turner, but LSU got the guys they wanted.
