LSU is where Quarterback careers come to die

Don't blame Crowton, Studrawa or Cameron. There is something fundamentally wrong about the program that causes highly recruited quarterbacks regress year after year and fail to live up to their potential even when surrounded by talent at other skill positions. As a result our offense suffers from lack of balance and every season we fall short. The same story seems to repeat every year. It's so damn frustrating. That 5th string QB from Syracuse played way better than any of our QBs have in a few years. :smh:

Zach Mettenberger and Matt Flynn say hello.

Very true!
Ryan Perriloux ( sort of his own fault)
Jarrett Lee
Jordan Jefferson
Stephen Rivers
Chris Garrett
Zach Lee (caught a break)
Gunner Keil ( ran for his life )
Zach Mettenberger (underperformed at LSU in 2012)
Anthony Jennings
and now Brandon Harris.

And did it matter?
And did his receivers drop critical passes all game long?
We all want more balance, but it's still early on in their careers to even judge. It's not an excuse, but we are just 2 years removed from one of our best offensive years in history.. I believe we are capable of that again as early as next season, and possibly the 2nd half of this season. Sure feels like 2012 where our receivers are not exactly helping, but in 2013 they started catching everything.
Perrilloux was going to be great. He was MVP of the SEC championship.
Jarrett Lee was heavily involved in leading us to an 11 win season..
Stephen Rivers couldn't cut it at Vandy
Mett was very good his senior season
Anthony Jennings just doesn't look the part
Harris is only a true sophomore, and the season has yet to get started.
What matters most is getting into the end zone. We are doing that this year regardless. Even if that means using Harris' legs to score in the red zone.. I am just happy for this.. Our red zone scoring has been up.

Just be happy with the win. BH didn't have the best game, but it's not the end of the world. He's so amazing when he's good, yet he's trash and his career is dead when he's bad. Support your team.

LF 7 is the ultimate decoy. The option keeper for BH can be very effective when everyone on D is keying on number 7.

I'm not thrilled by the poor play of the passing attack in the Eastern Michigan game, but I'm not gonna place all the blame on the Quarterback. And after seeing all the doom and gloom threads that have littered the scoreboard and the rant tonight, I praise God (and I'm not a religious person) that I'm not as miserable as some of you negative SOB's.

There is no reason lsu doesn't get miles of yardage running play action bootlegs to run or throw...I don't think they are running them a lot on purpose...
We'll see vs. Florida, who looks mildly legit.

But the Negative Nellies make for some good entertainment. Internet tough guys and gals are always good for a cheap laugh at their expense.

I didn't see the OP being a tough guy. I saw him highlight the perfectly apparent fact that since Flynn (recruited/developed by Jimbo) we've consistently taken four and five star talent (Shep) and done almost nothing with it. We got one passable year out of JJ (2009, So) and one pretty good year out of Mett with a couple of NFL starting receivers on the roster. That's it. I guess 2011 and 2012 were okay offensively, but it had little to do with QB play. Harris and Jennings are worse than Lee and JJ. And I recognize that Harris has the tools and has been the victim of drops, but 4/15? You have to be kidding.

The common thread is that these guys all put up huge numbers with lesser talent while at lesser schools but all flopped at LSU. The other common thread is that all flopped while working in LSU's system under Les. Les does not call many plays during the game. But he does give the OC's the plays that they can pick from each game.
As effective as the toss dive is with fournette (or Ridley, Hester, Scott, or Hill in the past) it totally kills the only pass threat in an I formation package which is the play action. Because every run is pitched to the RB when we fake handoff to a RB it is an instant alert of the pass. It is As blatant of a tendency as it used to be when Keiland came in everyone knew it was a weak side pitch, or when Sheppard or Trindon was in it was going to be a jet sweep, or when Perrileaux was in it was an option. But the problem is that Les doesn't care. He'd rather run into a 9 man front and get 6 yards a carry. He has never changed to attack an opponents weakness. He just does what LSU does and rolls with it.
Fournette is good enough to carry us to wins against every team but UF, Bama, and Ole Miss. We know that those three games will make or break our season and that each of those teams are getting better and better each week.
The status quo isn't good enough to win 2 of 3 against those guys. But I don't think Les cares. He'd rather play it safe, get 9 regular season wins, go to an average bowl, and keep his 4 mill/year job for another season. All while we continue to talk about LSU's anemic passing game and how it's holding the LSU program back from being one of the best programs of all time.

These are things you keep to yourself.

LSU recruits spread option QBs out of high school but runs a pro style offense. Try recruiting high school QBs who know what a center`s arse feels like.

The most infuriating aspect of this program.
Apparently dipshit mcagavin is clueless about this.

IMO the passing game woes last night were not on Harris at all. While he still needs to use more touch at times, he was on target for most of his throws. His receivers gave him no help in catching or fighting for the ball.

We'll see vs. Florida, who looks mildly legit.

Yet to get started? Let me guess. You're bad at math, right?

And Texas is right next door. Drop back passers on every street corner. Yet the square peg round hole QB enigma rolls on. It's bizarre.

Great point. The passing game is embarrassing. Worse than I've ever seen.
