I'd take the Eastern Michigan quarterback over anything we have in a heart beat.

Zach Mettenberger and Matt Flynn say hello.

Flynn and Mett both had been taught to play quarterback before Miles got a hold of them.

Thank you for helping prove that Miles is a quarterbacks worst nightmare.

As effective as the toss dive is with fournette (or Ridley, Hester, Scott, or Hill in the past) it totally kills the only pass threat in an I formation package which is the play action

This suggests that the only play we run out of the I is the toss dive, which is such an impossibly stupid suggestion that I have to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're just a drunk moron right now.

But I don't think Les cares

That's also probably the dumbest thing posted on here in a while. Les clearly cares. There is a reason Les has had success at LSU and it's been his grind it out offenses and tough defenses. He's won an obscene a amount of games on the backs of strong offensive lines and stables of running backs with just enough passing to keep defenses somewhat honest. He is frustrating as all hell and there are times when I think, "Boot this fricker out of here," but the record is what the record is and he has proven his ability to put us into situations to win.

But you know he cares more about winning than anything else when you see him go conservative. We get up on an opponent and boom, time to run, protect the football, protect the lead. Is that my estimation of how we should win? frick no. I want to pour it on. I hate the conservative play calling. But it isn't because Les doesn't care. It's precisely the opposite.

LSU recruits spread option QBs out of high school but runs a pro style offense. Try recruiting high school QBs who know what a center`s arse feels like.

looks to me like we recruit guys who mostly pass from the shotgun/ spread passing, not necessarily spread option QBs. then when we get em here, at least early on, the passing plays we give em are all or nothing deep balls, with screens occasionally mixed in.

I understand that you want to bring a young QB along, and rely on the running game until you think the QB is more "ready". but there's gotta be some happy medium where you let that young QB get some passing in. whether it's more throws from the gun, some shorter/ easier stuff and/ or passing on early downs/ non-obvious passing situations.

It's like some of you don't even watch the games.

Aggravating as all hell. But it was clear the coaches were trying to get the passing game off the ground last night. We threw a ton to start the game but to no avail and then our defense let us down to the point that we had to start scoring points and that meant getting some first downs and riding the Fournette train more.

I say that, but it wasn't until Jones' pick 6 that the game was really sealed. So the defense did end up contributing. But how frustrating a game to watch...

i have no idea what is going on over there but Miles has failed to either recruit or develop a decent Quarterback in 10 years. There's no way it's a talent issue.

You really are that stupid?

Flynn was coached by Jimbo and Mett at Georgia and a very good junior college program so even Miles could't ruin them in the short time he "coached" them.

He'd rather run into a 9 man front and get 6 yards a carry. He has never changed to attack an opponents weakness. He just does what LSU does and rolls with it.

You sir, have hit the nail on the head. CLM says take this ball and run it through that brick wall( 9 man front). If we break through the wall, LSU will win. If we don't, we lose. It is his way. There have been some season where we have been pass heavy, Jamarcus Russell, Matt Flynn, and Mett. But by and large, LSU runs the ball with CLM. It is what he likes, it is what he is comfortable with.

Matt Flynn is the quarterback type you want. I think Harris has upside but he always tosses a deep ball. Flynn won by being solid at throwing ten yard passes with consistency. Just moving the chains and not trying to get it all in one. I would love to see Harris attempt more passes inside of ten yards. Turn a 2nd and 10 into 3rd and 3. If he could just work on the short game and focus less on home run balls the pass game would probably improve.
