Ed Orgeron must be pissed that Les had such a shitty D Line coach before he became head coach. I bet he also immediately cleaned house and fired the offensive line coach.

I hammered most of the summer. The plan doesn't make sense unless O can routinely 1) Hire the very best coordinators nearly most likely every 1-2 years 2) Incorporate new philosophies very quickly

excatly

O having no real ethos or philosophy is going to doom this team. like i posted saturday night, this is likely the apext of coaching talent and on-field talent that O will have at LSU. the odds that O ever has coordinators of the level of Aranda/Canada is very low. the odds he has that level of coaching talent WITH the personnel we have? essentially 0

but that doesn't eliminate the fact that hiring O was a complete and utter disaster

the only things worse than the actual hire were:

1. the manner in which the hire was made

2. the contract "negotiation" that lead to O being given a $12 million buyout.

It's a scary time to be an LSU fan.

Agree it's not a rebuild. But sustaining at this point is 8-4. That's where we were last year. O needs to manage that and grow from there

I don't so much disagree with what you are saying but it doesn't change the fact that recruiting and player retention slipped over the past few years of the Miles era. The problems are especially acute on both lines and probably at WR, as well. O and his coordinators need to a better job with what they have than what was shown against State, but the talent has slipped.

What I suppose it gets down to is how long a leash you give O. Does he get 3 years no matter what to get his guys in? Or does he get less time because of how he billed himself?

For my part, I'm willing to see what he and his coordinators can do after a really rough start. As bad as that was, there is still a long way to go in this season.

So wait, we are highly talented on the OL?

nope, but O didn't fire our OL coach who is responsible for that OL, and O ran off a few OL in the process

Stfu already. If you suck in the trenches, you ain't winning...I don't care if Saban was coaching here right now. Yes, Saban went 6-6 his first year. By all means though, carry on with your agenda

you and others are determined to "prove" O was a bad hire after one frickin' game. what a waste of time.

No one has to "prove" O was a bad hire, because O's history does that for us.

O NEEDS TO PROVE HE ISN'T!

Thus far, History is repeating itself yet again!

The best part of your post is that you think this is a valid comparison. Just completely oblivious. Kind of jealous, TBH

so while i agree in theory, the argument fails

You realize O was our DL coach, right?

and he retained our OL coach?

and how many NFL players do you think Ms State has "in the trenches"?

not to the level of getting blown out by Ms State

I love how people keep parroting this line as if miss state is the worst team in CFB. They are not a bad team, and Fitzgerald was even getting some Darkhorse Heisman play before the season.

Key mistakes were made in the game, and all of them snowballed upon each other to give you the end result we had. Not that uncommon with an extremely young/inexperienced team

exactly. if the o-line was in such bad shape and in need of a rebuild why retain the offensive line coach?

I agree, but so what? You want us to say "this is not acceptable!" OK, I think that's been covered.

i will defend MSU here

for being such a lowly program who doesn't recruit elite guys, they do have a history of producing OL/DL talent

they take those country baws from MS and the surrounding areas and coach them the frick up consistently

they've done that since i've followed CFB. they even had line talent when croom was running the show

What agenda? Pointing out the truth makes some in this fanbase uncomfortable. That doesn't mean there's an agenda. It means the hire was deficient. We don't need to run from what O is and what he's done. We need to discuss it openly.
