Early to tell, but I think our pitching will hurt us. Also, team is sloppy early on, but I have faith CPM will have that cleared up in the stretch.

No-- too many question marks.
-- Lange inconsistent
-- No 3rd starter
-- Dunn not developing pitching
-- Bull pen is shaky
-- Timely hitting vs decent pitching
-- PM decision making

We're 1/3 the way through the season. There are probably about 30 teams at this point that are still contenders on paper. So... Yes of course LSU is still on that list.

Still a little to early. Were still finding our groove. There are many questions still however it's always better to fall in as the season progresses and work out the kinks. Hit the stride mid may. That's how it works. Don't forget 2010 where we were the rejuvenated 1997 team and the wheels fell off in April-may. Baseball is a long season and it pays to click later on.

No, haven't been a legit contender in years.
Downvote all you want but LSU isn't going to win it all this year or next or the year after. PM is not the right guy. LSU hasn't been in the winners bracket since 09 . That's 8 seasons ago. This year will make 9. That is unacceptable for a program of LSU's stature

So a national seed is not a contender?

I think we have a very good chance to get to the CWS...
our young pitching staff can be developed enougb to get us there...we have the defense & offense, so, barring injuries, we should be relevant at the end of the season...

I think Paul should think about putting the bulldog back in the Friday roll to shake things up and see how it goes. That's when Lang had his best stuff was on Saturdays not Friday's. Poche just brings that calm to the team when it's red hot with nerves. Bring him back and see if that stabilizes the staff some. GT

I've seen CPM take teams that looked worse than this one does right now to the CWS

Do the doubters realize last year's national champion lost games to Longwood, UNC-Greensboro, High Point and Charleston Southern?

The year before that Virginia team won it all after going 15-15 in the ACC and finishing 7th. They were swept twice in conference play and were a Regional 3 seed.

Fresno State won this thing.

Everyone is a contender. You just have to best your best in June, no matter the seeding or location. LSU hasn't done that, but under Mainieri we have a chance every year. To say we aren't a contender really hurts your credibility.

Nope. We are not. 1 good starter gets you nowhere in Omaha plus a coach who puts us immediately at a disadvantage from the bench. Pitching and defense wins CWS. Not weak pitching and hitting.

Contenders for CWS? Absolutely, yes.

And, folks, quit saying we have no third starter. We HAVE a 3rd starter Eric Walker. We probably have a 4th starter in Hess. Our bullpen is our pitching problem.
