Hey, here's a thought:

How bad are we gonna be next year without Simmons, Blakeney, Hornsby, and Victor? Talk about frightening.... Imagine a world where Malone & Robertson starting and... Uh... 2 other guys who are on the bench right now that I don't know in the rotation. So it'll be Gray, Patterson, Malone, Robertson, and Mr Nobody.

Scary stuff.... We may not win one game next year.

So you have been following LSU basketball for like a week or so? You just made like 4 mistakes based on our roster.

I have been telling all of you all year long that Simmons is not as great as you think. He disappears at important times a lot . He was 10-19 at the line. He must do better there. I don't blame jones for Simmons not being better than he is. You guys are using jj as a scapegoat as far as Ben. Jones is not a great coach at all but he is not to blame for Simmons.

The worst part is we are in year 4, and we still don't have more than 2 solid post players. It's not looking like it's going to change next year either

How so???? He doesn't play. Heart and guts and the ability to take over the game when needed does not fall on jones.thats on Simmons.

Simmons is getting no coaching to use his skills to bring him to the next level. He would be absolutely going off under Cal, Coach K, etc.

Nope. He would be a role player and not the focal point. None of those coaches would make a guy who can't hit a jump shot a 6'-10" guard.

Yeah, that's how I feel. He's not all the way in for LSU. Why should he be?

Dude! I am so offended right now! I cant believe you said that. It hurts so bad!!!

Two.... Two weeks or so. HA!!! In your face, Mr Smarty-pants!

...and if that WERE true, it would still be about a week more than 90% of the other posters on here.

No, I really don't think so. As Simmons himself has said, he doesn't listen to the coaches, he does what is best for him. That's the way he has been brought up.

I think that's a big part of the reason he came to LSU and not Duke/Kentucky etc; there, he'd be surrounded by equal talent, and would be forced to take direction, or be benched. Here, he's stepped into a big talent gap, and there really isn't more than one other viable big man on the team. Jones HAS to play him.

I get the impression that Simmons has overrated himself. He is riding high on a train that is about to run off the tracks unless he gets an attitude adjustment. Unless Simmons takes on an attitude he is not the best, he will stagnate at the level he is at and maintain a "legend in his own mind" funk. Simmons needs seasoning as a young man--exactly why he should stay at LSU and get some maturity before he gets overspoiled by the NBA. I am sure there are spoiled brats who entered too early and fell flat on their faces.

the thing about one and dones in college is that some won't have the drive to play for college accolades if their mind is on the NBA the whole time... but some do

but you need those talents. we talk about Ben Simmons, but don't we like him better being on our team rather than facing him on Kentucky?

Yes, and no; and that's not being disparaging to Simmons.

It's great that we have a legit starter that we can plug in down low, but honestly, I'd take another Victor or Martin type of guy instead. Someone you know can make an impact, and that you also know will stay a couple seasons. It's all fine and dandy that Simmons will win SEC freshman of the year, but next year he will be gone, and that big ol' beast at A&M (Davis) will continue to help the Aggies, for example.
