LSU Head cheerleading coach in boating accident

Chico Garcia was in a boating accident. The boat he was on swerved to avoid a boat and hit a dock. He was airlifted to Our Lady of the Lake. He is in ICU. He has 2 dislocated vertebrae in his neck. Right now he is paralyzed from the chest down. Will know more tomorrow once the swelling in his spine goes down. He was airlifted to Our Lady of the Lake. He is in ICU. PLEASE PRAY FOR HIM
11:00 am update: He is on is way to surgery to try to repair his spine and get it back in line. Surgery should take 4-5 hours. If anyone knows more about the surgery, please chime in.
4:00 pm- UPDATE: Chico Garcia's surgery is still going well, they have gone in through the front and back, fixating the vertebrae. They are going back in the front to do more work. The specifics have not been given, but they assure us things are progressing well and Chico is doing great! They did say that it would be a little longer than expected, so continue praying!!!
10 pm. Little late for an update: Chico is out of surgery. Now we just have to wait until his swelling goes down to see if he will regain motor function. He has some sensation in his arm which he didn't have before so that is a good sign.
11am: UPDATE: Chico is still sedated and intubated. He is however breathing on his own. They will begin to decrease the sedative medicine and allow him to wake up. Hopefully, they will be able to extubate him this afternoon and he will be able to talk to us.
He now has a website up that will keep up with his updates: Get well Chico
I will continue to update on here also
