our only hope of getting in the playoffs is to win the SEC.

This is the mindset I'm taking. We're in if we win the SEC, we're out if we don't.

Beating Bama would give us a big boost, but even though our losses are to top teams, they're still on our resume. My position is that if we win the SEC, we're in. If we don't, we're out, even if we win out.

How so? If we win out, that puts us behind Auburn and Mississippi State in the SEC West, best case. No team in third place in their own division and with two losses is going to jump any other one loss team that is ranked higher than they are right now.

I made sure to add all the others ahead of us too. Our two losses came to State, which was basically a blowout, and Auburn, which was a beatdown.

A Loss is a loss. If we win out, we need other shite to happen or we will not even make it into the top 10 nationally.

Does anyone pay attention to college football?

We play Alabama, Arkansas, and Texas A&M. One of them highly ranked, the other two not so much anymore. And the Aggies were beat to shite on CBS the other day by Bama. So no one is going to be high fiving LSU for winning against them.

Win out, hope other teams lose, and then maybe we are in...

Just sit back and try to enjoy the season. There will be less heartbreak when we go to the Citrus Bowl instead of the SECCG.

I agree that winning out, by itself, won't be nearly enough. Winning the SEC involves Auburn, Ole Miss and MSU dropping games just for us to be able to go to Atlanta, though. If all that falls into place and we win the SECCG, I say we're in.

Mississippi State has to lose 3. If Arky pulls the upset this weekend, then I'll start getting excited. They play @ Bama and @ Ole Miss.

Miss St does not have to lose 3. In a 4-way tie between LSU-OM-MissSt-Bama, All at 6-2, LSU wins the tie-breaker.

It has bee discussed endlessly, LSU only needs 6 things to win the West:

-LSU wins out
-Auburn beats @Ole Miss
-@Georgia beats Auburn
-@Bama beats MissSt
-@Bama beats Auburn
-@Ole Miss beats MissSt

Auburn out with 3 losses...LSU, MissSt, Bama and Ole Miss would all have 2 losses. The first tie beaker would be record against the other tied teams:

LSU 2-1
Ole Miss 2-1
Bama 1-2
MissSt 1-2

That eliminates Bama and Miss State, leaving LSU and Ole Miss tied. LSU beat Ole Miss head to head... LSU wins the West.

It really has, I know I've gone over this exact same scenario a few times already. I'd be in favor of a sticky for one of these threads.

If we beat Bama, it becomes a lot more real and within reach and I'd imagine we'll get a sticky.

That said, I'm so sick of hearing (on here and at work) that MissSt needs to lose 3.....there have been 6000 threads explaining to people that MissSt only needs to lose 2 in the most realistic and easiest path for LSU to win the West.

LSU wins out, Auburn beats OM, Georgia beats Auburn, Bama beats MissSt, Bama beats Auburn, OM beats MissSt....LSU is headed to Atlanta.

That makes sense. Bama is the big roadblock right now.

We do need Auburn to lose 3, though, and that's probably what mixes people up. "But MSU beat us too, why don't they have to lose 3?" It would be great if they did, but not necessary.
