SoS as always

I didn't come out but I plan on making the season opener Friday night. Does JOB look comfy playing the 5 since he's the closest we have to one right now, especially defensively?

I hope his basketball IQ went up from last year too.

I don't think we were really able to see how JOB will play against legit 5 type players. I have been researching UC Santa Barbara for Friday and he will be tested much more this Friday.

Jones wants to play where everyone is interchangeable. At one point I saw a switch where Coleman guarding the 4 switched onto the PG and all was fine. Jones expects his players to play basketball on whoever they need to and I think JOB will be fine. I was a little worried about fouls last night but overall he was fine. I don't see much of a difference in 4 and 5.

Also, underrated player from last night down low was Eddie, he's not a great player but he looks way better than under TJ

As many on here know, I have always been an Eddie fan. He certainly isn't going to bring a ton of athleticism to the table, but he brings a great basketball IQ to the court. He scores by being at the right place. He blocks out EVERY play. He doesn't take off possessions. He shoots great free throws. He will be the best player on our team at taking charges. All these things show he puts in the work and understands the game. He won't wow anyone, but I see last night being a regular game for him scoring around 7-8 points and getting 5-6 rebounds.

Those are called "starter numbers"

For Eddie, those are All-Star numbers.

I don't think so. I say he goes into SEC play averaging 8ppg and 5rpg. After that I'm not sure. Alot depends on development of the system and who has stepped up. If he continues his role as the starting PF, I think those are going to be averages.

Honestly, more than for some games last season, but not many. I'm really bad at guessing numbers, but noone had to sit in the 300's but people were spread out in the bottom two levels.

I certainly hope that is the case but lets see what Jones can do with him. Considering the most points he has ever scored in a game is twelve, to suddenly average eight would be a tremendous jump. But this may be comparing apples to oranges in terms of offensive styles of Johnson and Jones. Still, I know Ludwig has a high bball IQ and that is probably why he is still relevant, but I just struggle to see him put up those consistent numbers after watching him for three seasons.

Don't think attendance will fare better for season opener with LHSAA Football Playoffs starting this weekend. 6 first round games will be in Baton Rouge from my count

First of all South it is Corban with an "a" not Corbin. I know, I have the same problem with names.

Second thanks for the recap. Good job. Carmouche was better last night than any of us expected I think but you can't judge anyone by just one exhibition game.

Coleman really looked small out there, closer to 6'5" than 6'6". It's a shame we have to play him as a big because he really is a perimeter player.

Corban Collins impressed me as being able to play either point or shooting guard. Good solid player who will only get better.

Stringer won't get as much playing time but for all the naysayers he will be high scorer in a couple of games at least. Under Coach Jones new system he will get lots of open looks off of fast breaks that he rarely got under Trent's walk it up slow one. And for all of his faults the guy can really fill it up when he is hot.

Eddie looked more confident and relaxed than I have ever seen him. He gave us his usual hustle, working hard on defense, taking charges, etc.

JOB looked great at times but they were double teaming him almost the whole game. Unfortunately that will probably be true in most of our schedule.

Malik Morgan, I know what I said about just one exhibition game, but damn! Did he look great or what. This kid has a great future ahead of him.

Hopefully this team just gets better and better as they get used to the system and each other. Can't wait to get Hickey and Hammink out there also.

I see your point, but I do think the style of play will be very good for Ludwig, not to mention he will be starting and he will get the minutes required. He willnot make his own offense and I am not saying he will, but I think we have some good guards that will be looking to dump the ball off to him. He gets in the right spots to receive passes. As long as he can catch them he should be able to get some easy baskets.

With the ball movement that we had during the game last night he was able to find some soft spots in the defense and take advantage. I think if we play our offense the way it is suppose to be run and Eddie uses his head he should be able to score.

From what was said on the post game report, they were held out for team rules, nothing that we need to fear in the future, but I think setting the tone and stating that you can't do whatever you want and still play. They will be playing Friday.

I think one thing we can count on Eddie for is not taking a shot unless he is open and it is a high percentage shot. I was so sick of watching Malcom White shoot turnaround jump shots from 10-12 feet. Storm was trigger happy too, but he could make them at least. Ideally, in the future, players like Ludwig won't be starting. But, I do think the new style of play will benefit him.
