LSU Baseball: Looking Forward

1) We were a regional lock before the tournament. So that wasn't going to change. We got a shot at a top 8 now. I don't think we get it, but we didn't go backwards. And we have good arguments over USCe and OM.
2) Our pitching is set. Lots of pitchers did well against some very good hitting. No one was overworked. Everyone who needed to throw did. Now what that rotation will be is another question. Gilbert, Latz, or Smith vs the 4?
3) We went 3-1. Successful weekend for any team.
Point being... all good things. I wish we had won. I was planning on going tomorrow. But it doesn't hurt us not making that game.

In comparison to where we started the week, GT.

Loved the way our pitching performed this week. Seems like they are starting to find their groove at the right time and we are finally seeing the depth we expected at the beginning of the season.

Yea, I'm not upset/ actually very pleased how the tourney worked out based on expectations.
Just having some fun with these dumbasses.
No team should want any part of LSU come regionals/super regionals the way they have played as of late.
This team is gritty and does not go down easy. And make no mistake, UF was shitting their pants when LSU had the tying run on base.
I'm actually glad LSU could rest some arms for the regionals.
Moving on... Good times ahead.

I'm not. This is a "looking forward" thread.

Wasn't the general consensus coming into this tournament;
If we lose, we might as well lose against Tennessee, because we needed to win it all to have a shot at hosting a regional?
Or did a couple of wins over top 5 teams help us out enough to get us a national seed?

Had a regional host locked up regardless of what we did this week. Had to make a run to have a shot at a national seed.

I think Smith is the odd man out and remains in the bullpen. Outside of that it depends on whether you'd rather the "wholestaff" approach against the 4 seed or in the if necessary game. I think I'd rather Latz/wholestaff in game 1 and save Gilbert for the last game if need be.

I see nothing wrong with using 2 starters. Pitch Latz as long as you can. hopefully 3 or 4 innings. Then "start" gilbert and let him go as long as he can. In other words, don't piece it together with multiple pitchers and matchups. Let those guys get a lot of work.

We were pretty much a lock to host no matter what

D1 Baseball had us as a national seed in their projections after the win over State.

I didn't mean it like that, I just meant, if we had to be eliminated from the tournament it might as well have been the first game.
I never agreed with it.. A couple wins against SEC talent can help us gain some momentum and confidence going into regional play. And so we don't get cold after not playing for ~a week

I did see that, but it's just a projection.. I don't read into those too much

I know a few people who felt 3-1 was perfect. You don't stress your staff. You win a bunch of games and feel good about it.
Posted on 5/28/16 at 8:24 pm to ell_13
do you see wofford or Dawson getting more playing time? Obviously Paul wouldn't have played them with national seed implications on the line if that wasn't the case.
Posted on 5/28/16 at 8:24 pm to ell_13
If you're using that approach, I'd rather Smith be the 2nd "starter". I have much more confidence in Gilbert than Smith if we have to play a game 4.

Just popping in to say you guys definitely deserve a national seed over us. Unreal play the last few weeks.
Good luck in the postseason!

Y'all too.
No idea what the committee does. Tough to argue with winning the East with the number 1 team on that side.
