The loudest for me is definitely the Georgia game in 2003. I was so into the game that I sobered up and hurt from yelling. Wouldn't it be nice if they threw a decibal meter in the stadium so we can see how loud we are? It would make us want to be even louder!

+1

(but I missed Bama last year and it sounded loud on TV...motherfrickers were throwing drinks everywhere when the TV panned over the crowd )

For me, 2007 vs. UF after Dan Borne announced that USC had lost to Stanford...but the best part was, the noise level was sustained throughout the game. RJF's blocked FG attempt against Bama last year stirred everyone up into a frenzy, too.

Pregame of the '04 season opener against Oregon State was extremely loud. It's the only time I've heard the crowd drown out the band when they were playing.

Yep. Fricking Earl Bruce refused to bring his team out of the tunnell & the noise built to a piercing level I've not heard before or since. The Great game, hot as hell though.

I was 13 at the '79 USC game with my dad and grandpa, the AU game as a student (walked out as Hodson hit fuller and missed the play, but was still in the stadium - THAT SUCKED), the TOSU tie (spielman (??) pick hurt) and the '03 UGA game, was in the instensive care unit waiting area, for the '97 fla game (it looked crazy), and at the 2007 fla game. Got to say, I couldn't remember a single play more than the one I didn't see. But as far as sustained noise, I would have to say USC b/c I couldn't hear my self yell. No more exciting than the fla game IMO.

I think that was the rain that drowned the band that night, not the crowd.

The rain fell so hard it stung.

The First Quarter lightning delay put a damper on the crowd.

The loudest I recall is during the win over Florida in 2007...it was nuts when the USC loss was announced meaning LSU would be ranked #1 with a win over Florida.

'79 USC...the whole game...never been close to that since in my 35 years of going to games. And that with 78K capacity.

I don't think the upper sections add as much noise as you think as they are not in the bowl.

For the old geezers like me, LSU - USC from 1979 will always remain the standard for nonstop noise. That said, I can recall a few games that stood out to me for noise, fan intensity, etc.

2001 vs. Auburn: This was the game that got rescheduled because of the 9/11 tragedy. It turned out that the game would decide the West representative for the SECC game. That alone guaranteed a juiced up crowd, then throw in all the cigar smoking, stomp on the eye of the field and trying to interfere with the LSU band at halftime mess and the crowd was ready for blood. This was the game that started all the Auburn fans' whining about LSU fans and the corndog stupidity that lingers to this day.

vs. UGA in 2003: Far and away the loudest, most intense crowd I've ever witnessed at a day game in TS. To be honest, I haven't made many day games in TS, so I may not be the best judge in that department.

vs. Notre Dame in 1971: My first game ever in TS. This was back before ESPN and the huge proliferation of networks that carry college football these days, so a home game in primetime was a HUGE deal. The Tigers lost a hard fought 3 - 0 game in South Bend the year before and more than made up for it that night. There were 2 or 3 times that Notre Dame went for it on 3rd or 4th and goal from the 1. Sadly for them, they were heading right into the teeth of a lunatic student section and the Tiger D held fast, helping to produce a 28 - 8 win.

vs. Florida State in 1982: The winner of that game was going to the Orange Bowl, so I doubt that there were any oranges left in BR stores that night. The Tigers scored early and often in a 55 - 21 romp that produced a hailstorm of oranges everytime the Tigers scored. Then late in the game, a mass of fog rolled in, just adding to the lunacy.

There were likely other games that folks would nominate for their own reasons. I just included games that I went to and still reside in my fading memory.

Yea! still get chill bumps thinking about it. was hoarse for a week. also, the '72 ole miss game where we won on a Jones to Davis pass with 1 second on the clock. that moment was so loud it was incredible (rest of game not so loud). there have a lot of magical moments in tiger stadium.

Thanks. I remember Bert Jones and Andy Hamilton just trashing ND's secondary that night.

Sadly, I didn't go to the 1972 game against Ole Miss. I remember hearing the last few seconds on the radio and having trouble hearing what John Ferguson was saying because the crowd was nearly drowning him out.

My dad took a few of us to the OM game the next year, up in Jackson. That one had considerably less drama.

Tiger Stadium really isn't all that loud as its made out to be

I cannot say I've been to these other stadiums but through deductive reasoning I say that...

Auburn is louder when they are good
TS cannot touch the Swamp. Swamp is hella loud
Clemson is crazy loud
Autzen stadium - nuff said

Thats pretty much it

The Auburn thing might be a reach though

LSU fans over glorify TS

The history is great the architecture is cool. But it's pretty much a dump.
