The two pitchers in the 8th had already blown the safe chance. I'm going with score more runs. I'm very sure LSU already knew that scoring one run is not conducive to winning baseball games: so the answer is they learned nothing.

Don't get picked off of 2nd base with the 4th and 5th hole hitters coming up.

I thought it was a 94 mph FB that drifted too far up in the zone.

One of the most well-known truths in baseball...

Good pitching > good hitting

Yeah, this wasn't a good game for Fraley to have what might have been his worst outing of the season.

I was surprised by the quality of Florida's pitching. I did not expect that coming out of the losers bracket.

2 out walks really increases the pitch count. However, I think Lange pitches the 8th at the very least in the NCAA tournament.

They have hit well throughout most of the year. They do however struggle at times doing the little things to get runs in from 2nd with no out or 3rd with 0 or 1 outs. Maybe it sticks out because they have so many scoring opportunities b/c the offense is so good. I don't think much can change at this point. Just stay focused and swing away because they will likely need the bats to carry them deep in the tourney.

Some games you are not meant to win, Lange was pitching out of the stretch constantly and somehow got thru it. In the 8th UF should have had runners on 2nd and 3rd with zero outs in a tie game and managed to turn a double into a double play. This was much worse than Fraley's blunder. Really lack of clutch hitting by both teams.

In the end, it really didn't matter as the game was fairly meaningless in the big scheme of the season. I would have liked Poche to get a chance to redeem himself on Sunday against an excellent team.

That it wasn't LSU's day in a game that really had no meaning for LSU and their postseason aspirations.

Better to learn not to call a changeup to the 9 hole hitter when you are bringing 94 mph heat.

This may be the most ignorant and overused phrase in sports.

We learned Alex Lange is a legit college ace who can pitch through problems caused by a bad ump behind the plate.

I'm sure there is something to be learned from every game that is played win or lose. It just didn't happen Saturday. Losing one ballgame 2-1 against the #4 national seed is gonna happen. Hopefully if they meet again it will be the other way around when it counts.

I wish they learned that running the bases like imbeciles are going to bite them in the arse when they play good teams.

But I doubt they learned it. They've been doing this for at least 3 years now. Somebody gets picked off a base or thrown out at the extra base by 20 feet EVERY FREAKING WEEKEND.

Hell, you would have thought Fraley would have learned after he got thrown out at 2nd by 30 feet when he played aTm, but he obviously didn't.

I think it actually is: "Good pitching always beats good hitting and vice versa."

Was coming to post the same thing. I think they learned that lesson before the inning was over. You could see PM coaching Fraley up telling him how to increase that lead so he doesn't fall trying to suddenly stop.

LSU had better pitching. Fraley ran us out of a possible 3-run inning.
