I think when you’re as dominant as LSU was last season, haters will look for anything they can to downgrade your team.

That's all it was. I wouldn't say haters, they're just doing their job by playing both sides. They have to find SOMETHING negative about every team. You have your exceptions but talking heads can't be 100% pro any team.

I think the fact they couldn't come up with anything other than the Ole Miss game says enough about LSU's dominance.

Orlovsky tried to swerve even harder by playing his whole Lawrence > Burrow act. That's all that was too.

The game caused some eye popping stats and its more interesting to draw crazy conclusions than be tempered with context.

Plumlee made the LSU D look like a high school D a few times. Nobody expected that. It was worth discussing.

Never forget that this was a “test of will, character, and true perseverance”, and also swiftly forgotten by the media.

Well coming of an historic win at Bama and dominating a outmanned Ole Miss team in the 1st.half it's can be human nature to let down a bit.esp on defense.BTW we could have scored 70 that night if we really wanted to.

Aranda get another shot at stopping the Ole Miss offense week 1 of 2020.

Baylor vs. Ole Miss (in Houston)

and yes... OM success vs. LSU was way overblown

Or possibly the "gave up 38 to Vandy" from the idiots who didn't watch the game and just looked at the final score!

No, because it was so sudden and happened numerous times. Either we had a structural problem or an attitude problem and either were troubling. Didn’t show that we were ready to continue to step on the throat.

Jesus Christ

We had just beat Bama, we were up by 4 scores, they couldn't stop anything we were doing, so the defense stopped trying. It's simple as that

That game was mostly blown out of proportion by opposing fans and national media desperate for a weakness

I’m convinced that the defensive issues we saw in the beginning of the season were a masterly crafted bait tactic by Aranda and co. that gave teams a false sense of security. We showed “holes” in our defense so teams would feel they could be exploited. Sure enough, when they stepped on the field and went for it, it wasn’t there. We let Ole Miss run around on us to show the better QBs of our later schedule (and potentially Clemson) that they could run. Obviously they couldn’t. With the exception of Auburn, who has a great D themselves, every game was pretty much in hand after a couple drives. Why show your real cards? It was all a show until it was time to cash in and damn it was played phenomenally.

I wish I could believe that but that’s just absurd.

The media has to make up something to talk about. Most are lazy and that was the easy story.

Plumlee is a unique and gifted athlete who looked even hetter against a disinterested defense.

Most prominent media I saw/heard/read predicted LSU to win the SECCG both playoff games.

It was the fans of the three other playoff teams that seemed oblivious to the fact that LSU’s defense had played well against the run for 46 out of 48 quarters prior to Georgia. Even Georgia fans seemed to me at least to know what was coming.

I’m sure there were a couple of the shock jock on-air sports personalities like Cowherd who assumed that two quarters out of 48 total while up 31 points was enough of a sample size to determine LSU couldn’t defend the run. I didn’t see or hear it though because I don’t read, watch or listen to imbeciles.

It sure was fun stopping by the other teams’ message boards before and after the games though. Clemson fans still think they beat themselves, and would’ve won if only their OC had called better plays. The idea that a very good defense had a better plan and better players than their offense is completely foreign to them. They can’t seem to grasp it even after witnessing their 29-0 team be castrated by bigger, badder, leaner and meaner Tigers.

Oh, and the 628 yards is a taboo topic on their forum, as is the dropped TD pass by Chase, the missed FG and the mercy knee while there was still plenty of time to score without coming across as poor sports. Bama scored on Michigan one last time with a lot less time than was on the clock when we went to victory formation against Clemson.

I think we all said that at the time. No looking back even necessary. There were a few games this season where we basically put a team away (or nearly away) early and then coasted somewhat in the 2nd half and this was one of those games. While the last part of that was a little concerning, especially given O's mantra of playing for 60 minutes, everybody knew that in a closer game that wouldn't happen and also that we would learn from playing that type of offense.

We never should have dropped to #2 but in the end it didn't matter. The committee got the seeding right and things played out like we thought they would. For once.

No it wasn't. There is reason why he didn't do any of that before during the 28-0 run in the first half.

10000X this! These guys just went on the road and won the biggest game in 8 years for our program! Had to fight that Bama comeback and 7 days later had to somehow get back up on the road and play another game against a team that would have all given their testicles to win that game...
