Les sounds good until you factor in the fact that he likes to hire his buddies for jobs instead of finding the best fit for the job. See Bradley Dale Peveto times 2 and Cam Cameron.

The answer also kind of depends on what LSU wants the AD to actually do.

The administrator/booster fluffer needs a different skill set than someone that's going to be the guy that runs the show.

Should've been the pick when Alleva was hired.

Del Conte is at TCU, not Texas Tech.

But he's one of the best in the game.

Another guy who would have to get a phone call is Jim Phillips at Northwestern, who's hired excellent coaches and is building monster facility upgrades and has them competing at a lot higher level than they've previously done.

There was a Sports Illustrated piece a month ago on who the best AD's are. Here's the link to it.

If you're going to hire an "LSU guy" for the job, the one with the resume that makes sense is Herb Vincent seeing as though he's moved up to the #2 job at the SEC office and he would give you some actual stroke with the league that you have never, ever had, not to mention Herb is actually intelligent and knows how to communicate things in a manner where LSU doesn't come off looking like freaking idiots (the Florida game affair last year, for instance). Whether he can hire coaches or not I don't know, though.

Both had higher winning percentages as a head coach in college than Ed Orgeron before he was hired.

Let that shite sink in.

Why get somebody from outside LSU? We could probably get this office manager from the athletic department. This is his dream job and is a great guy that is actually from South Louisiana.

How about Verge Ausberry! Bleeds purple and gold, and would love the chance!
Yes, he's doing such a wonderful job with the OOC scheduling, lets turn the entire athletic department over to him.

Dan Radakovich of Clemson or Mitch Barnhart of Kentucky...........

We are LSU - we can afford to hire someone who is a proven, successful athletic director at another institution.
I seem to recall "We are LSU" hiring a relatively unheralded coach from Mich St a few years ago. I think it turned out ok. Check me on that... Of course, he's probably washed up by now...

My pick. LSU ties. Perhaps should have been the choice last time.

I knew that - I was just testing the board/had a brain cramp (you pick).

I think he's really good, as well. I'm not sure he's interested in leaving, though, Michigan couldn't get him a few years back.

Meh - folks in coaching circles knew who he was and that he was an up and comer - and certainly already proven successful as a head coach at a P5 school.

I mean, he wasn't a coordinator when we hired him, even an NFL one, for example - he was a "no shite" head coach.

So, we can hire a "no shite" AD. I like Thomas as that associated AD with an eye towards perhaps him getting a job at a smaller school in the south and be LSU's AD of the future. Sort of like my plan for Frank Wilson to be the next LSU head coach (he won't be in the market the next time we change, though, I don't think.)
