re: Letter from AD Joe Alleva about booing the team...

It's embarrassing that he'd have to write this thing. Embarrassing but necessary. I imagine they'll be talking about it on CBS today, not to mention espn. Instead of the boos, why not just write Miles a note telling him you're pissed. I expect 60,000 irate letters would have as much effect as 60,000 boos. Assuming some of the booers can write.

To me I feel that he has to look at it from a fan's point of view. People spend money to come watch a team. You think its ok to put a nasty product on the field and expect fans not to get mad?

It is a good general note. The only issue is that it leaves no opportunity for Miles to hear the voices of thousands that are very angry with him. Miles and the LSU media insulates him from the overwhelming disagreement with the coaching he is getting paid 3.8 Mill to perform.
maybe the best opportunity to let Les know would be on his call in show.
When given the opportunity, just let it out by writing up a question that cuts to the point Ex.(coach Miles how can you continue to defend the play calling and offensive design? it's inexcusable to consistently show the inability to involve key personnel. If the want is there to involve players how can they not be involved it's your job to involve them)and asking it at walk ons during the show.
If he dances around the questions then someone else needs to ask the same question and say you never answered this.......This way no recruits or players are affected and national media don't paint LSU fans in a negative light. Just like family let's not air the dirty laundry for the nation to see. JMO

The "Fan" behavior (booing , calling out Miles 24/7) does NOTHING positive. It will not change anything in a positive manner.
It only sullies the repuation of th School, the Program, the Players and the Fans.
Why so many New Kids on the Block dont get this is trully sad.

I think Joe's letter is a perfect chance for all the fans to reply to Joe and voice their concerns! In stead of Booing just email Joe. That way your displeasure is directed to the proper channel.
Already done. And unlike random boos, Joey Boy can check TAF points from those the responses come from.
FWIW, I told him I really like Coach Miles in general, but pointed out that some of the best college coaches of all time have pulled the trigger and made a switch at a key position when the starter was struggling. And I am pretty sure that Paul Maneri felt bad about benching some starters when he significantly shook up his lineup that led to the big run and the NC, but he did it for the betterment of the team, while communicating to the players that he sat that they were still important to the future success of the team.

Maybe everybody should cheer when JJ throws a ball at the receiver's feet, or fails to execute a pitch on the option, or takes a sack instead of throwing it away.
That might get more action than boos.

I love people that claim they were booing Miles...a standing ovation for Lee and booing when Jefferson came back in...whatever people have to tell themselves to feel better.
another thing...for everyone says this team is in the same situation and tired of the coaches putting shite on the field...fine..boo the offense...but you were give the defense a standing ovation every second they are on the field instead of sitting on your arse like many do.

If he'd have done his job last offseason and insisted that Miles replace Crowton, he wouldn't have to be writing open letters about booing now.

I'm a Purdue fan. I was booing enthusiastically last Saturday when they sucked it up and lost to Toledo. If Danny Hope emailed me and asked me not to boo his team, it would just make me boo even louder.
Why?
Because I'm paying to support your product, and if the best you can produce is a team that can't even beat Toledo, I'm pissed off at how I spent my money and can express it how I see fit; like booing your shiatty team.
Plus I don't like being told what to do.
/fark this, LSU fans should boo louder.

Dear Tiger Fans, Tiger Stadium is known as one of the most intimidating arenas for opposing teams in the sporting world, a reputation that has been well-earned because of the passion of our fans. Tiger Stadium is at its best when it roars as one voice in support of the Tigers. But when some among the crowd are vocally disapproving of our own players or coaches, it is detrimental on many levels. It impacts the morale of the players, it reflects poorly on our reputation, it sends a poor message of sportsmanship to the young people in the crowd and it delivers a negative message to recruits in attendance. As the Tigers play on national television against Tennessee on Saturday afternoon, I hope the Tiger Nation will be at its best. The crowd at Tiger Stadium is the best 12th man in all of college football, and in the highly-competitive Southeastern Conference, our Tigers need every ounce of support. We are 4-0 and ranked as high as No. 10 in the nation and we are heading in to the most challenging portion of our schedule. Let's keep the momentum going. Geaux Tigers,

I'm fairly confident that the booing will not be nearly as bad as last week. The majority of people, including myself, think it's incredibly idiotic and yields no positives, only negatives.
Today, be the Tiger Fan you're expected to be, yell like hell for your team and against the others, like it should be, and if anyone boos around you, tell them to STFU. As soon as that sad individual knows that everyone around him thinks he's the pathetic loser that he really is, he'll shut up and start to pout with his arms crossed, which I'm fine with.
It's amazing how much team morale can affect a game, let's make sure our team's is where it should be.

booing has been part of sports for as long as we have had sports..its the only way spectators can try and change something they dont like. Referies, players , coaches , teams. Show me a fan that say booing isnt right and I will show you a fan thats not taking the game as a sport and probably someone that leaves before the game is over.

Yeah, the AD may have good intentions and be trying to make a good point about how it reflects negatively on several aspects by booing. However,
1. Joe cannot coach fans on how to be fans.
2. He wrote a letter about a problem he has no way to control.
3. He demeans his position by even bringing it up.
4. His own letter to fans is just as insulting and embarrassing as the booing.
5. He doesn't have a right to address it in the first place, has nothing to do with his role at LSU.
6. He runs the risk of losing support for himself, and puts his job at risk if things go even more south.
7. He gives commentators something to notice and debate in print and on TV by admitting that coaches and school administration take note of the problem.
8. His attention should be focused more on what makes LSU cheer instead of boo.
