Louisiana State Gators makes more sense geographically, but historically, the Fighting Tigers fits better. I don't care how many other schools have Tigers as mascots, we are the only FIGHTING TIGERS. They call us the Bayou Bengals but I prefer fighting tigers.

I would assume florida is named the gators because they have a shite ton of alligators. But I believe I read somewhere that they are second to louisiana which has the most alligators. So it would make sense if we were the gators but it would sound dumb
