Les was an average Coach that benefited Nicks foundation. He could have coached at LSU for 30 years if he hadn't tried to do things his way. He also benefited from a weak SEC west during his first half. When the other schools started stealing our in state recruits it was the beginning of the end

Under Les, it always felt like we were never going to turn the corner to compete for championships again no matter how well we played or how well we recruited. I always felt that we would have a good defense, but the offense would never be good enough to get us to the NC. With CEO...mainly his coordinators, I feel like we have a chance. This recruiting class was on par with Les' classes. Our kicker under Les couldn't kick it past the 5 yard line can all of the sudden kick it out of the endzone under CEO. I don't know, it just seems like there is hope, where once there was doubt. I know we may be disappointed with a couple more games this season, but the future finally looks bright.

And the haters are back. Can’t wait to see y’all scurry back in your holes for a few days when we beat Ole Miss.

We could say the same thing now... If Les let someone run a decent offense he would still be here

Come on now, he had his moments, he even beat Saban and was competitive practically every year. It wasn't the end when we lost recruits out of our home state, it was because of his stubbornness to play a modern day offense that isn't predictable

O is in a perfect conference for him now, everyone sucks besides Saban and possibly Kirby.

We faces Sumlin, Fat Bert, Butch, Yellow Teeth, anemic Muschamp and and now a lifeless Ole Miss program.

LSU needs to capitalize now while we can

Les '05-'11 is not the les of '12+.

The end.

I find it funny that you think these kids are playing for their coach and not for themselves.

Pride in someone else; only goes so far.

Unless you're a Les Miles type.

Not everything...but they mean A LOT.

Go look at recruiting rankings vs national champions. If you are not in the top 5, you are losing ground. Being ranked 20 or worse should NEVER happen at lsu, and we will suffer if it does.

Just the way it is.

Yep. No virtue in being mediocre in recruiting.

What has Les done the past 5 years?

Well first, he never started a year off like this one.

This whole thread is based on nothing but emotion. You WANT to feel this optimism, but there is no logic in it.

Fact is, you don't know what youre going to get out of O any given week.

Baloney

The SEC West was stronger during the first half of Les Miles' tenure. The whole SEC was much stronger for that matter. This includes our permanent rival from the East, Florida, who was going through a golden age under Urban Meyer.

Now it's just Bama and everybody else, and it's been that way for at least 4 years. The rest of the SEC is pretty much lifeless, except for UGA, who is still unproven as of yet under Kirby Smart.

I bet all these Les sunshine pumpers were the same ones bashing him for a stagnant offense, clock mismanagement, underutilized play-makers, inability to beat bama in 5 years, him going with JJ over Lee, embarrassment in national championship game, the perennial collapsing in November, failure to make staff changes when needed (Cam), letting the states top recruits go to bama etc...but hey, he's still the highest paid coach we got, so y'all really want him back verses a change and a chance at something different?

Gotta improve where we're at recruiting wise. Right now it looks like we will end with a class ranked between 20-15.

We need more players . Need quality depth.

correct.. his stubborness to fire his buddy cost him his job... all he had to do was modernize it..

correct.. the entire conference is weak except two teams.. there should be a huge push in all aspects quickly... he should be recruiting day and night.. he also needs to over sign a couple classes..

and for the love of god, sign some damn lineman from a dairy state... Aranda and Canada have ties to wisconsin.. sign a couple damn farm boys that bail hay and kick arse... in no particular order..

Played some terrific football in the sport's most difficult division with a bottom 5% QB.

A break here or there he wouldve won some major hardware without a QB that could hit a barn or with 1 with the poise of a scared deer.

What other coach anywhere is winning 70-75% of their games a year with a bottom 5% QB much less in the SEC west during Les' time.

You can whine about him not being able to convince a top QB to leave their state and hand the ball off to Fournette, thats fair. You can point out Cam Cameron shouldve been fired after the 2014 season and you can criticize his speaking to the media was mind boggling, but at the end of the day LSU was a tough out against anyone most years, he was here with or without a QB.

Les lost games late . Went into most Novembers in the hunt for a title.

Edward Orgeron loses early . Eliminates the hunt for a title all together before September.

It's one season. I think people need to scale it back on both ends. There's no way to really tell where this is headed. Yes Ed O had a pretty embarrassing loss to Troy, but also had one of the greatest comebacks against a huge rival in LSU history. I'm not saying he's Saban....but Saban faltered early on at LSU and Bama. Let the coaching staff recruit and mesh for a couple of years.

This is the type of mindset that Alleva used to justify hiring Orgeron. You are partly to blame for the "search."
