Exactly. We all know the only personnel decisions Miles makes are RG and QB, right?

I think Miles allows his assistants to make personnel decisions.

I think his only input was forcing Crowton to play Lee more.

This article was all about JJ and JL being on this team for three years, not they are a better QB than Mett. It is all about JJ and JL knowing when Rueben Randle pulls out of a ButtonHook, or what's his favorite Combo meal at Wendy's. Mett needs to get comfortable by getting comfortable with this offense. A QB should be a leader. All players would go to war with the QB(and Take a bullet)who is a leader. Follow him headfirst into a wall. When 1 of these 3 QBs displays this attribute, we will have us a starting QB.

The calls and recognition of defenses is a whole lot more important than memorizing the playbook. That is what takes time.

And JJ is a genius at defensive recognition.

We can argue about who should be starting QB all day long. But the facts are every team that has won a BCS Championship, the starting QB was a Junior or Senior. You have to go back to 1992 to find a team that won a championship with a soph.

LSUCurly has this issued nailed. Upperclassmen quarterbacks win championships, period.

We all know the SEC Champion will have a shot at the BCS title game. Here are the past SEC Champs and the QB's that started for each team:

2010 Auburn - Newton, Jr
2009 Bama - McElroy, Jr
2008 Florida - Tebow, Jr
2007 LSU - Flynn, Sr
2006 Florida - Leak, Sr
2005 Georgia - Shockley, Sr
2004 Auburn - Cambell, Sr
2003 LSU - Mauck, Jr
2002 Georgia - Green, So (Redshirt - Third year in system)
2001 LSU - Davey, Sr
2000 Florida - Palmer, Sr

That is a decade's worth of upperclassmen.

And there are some average quarterbacks on that list that did not develop into good college QBs until their senior years: Leak, Shockley, Cambell.

Anyone else worried that Miles didn't say he "enjoyed" Throwing Zach? Must mean he's in the dog house with Keiland & Ford!

When you look at the facts, this team has a better chance of winning it with JJ as the starter then Mett. Not saying it can't happen, but the percentages are greatly in favor of a junior or senior qb starting for a BCS championship team.

So Junior>>>>RS Sophomore?

"Zach Mettenberger is getting the offense and making some really nice throws," LSU coach Les Miles said. "He’s a very talented guy. I think the two veterans (Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee) still have an advantage with the understanding of the offense. I think after time Zach will compete with his advantages, but right now the experience of the veterans is showing."

= JJ is starting in the fall and won't be pulled until he really screws up - no matter how spectacular Mett is.

Personally I dont care how much better JJ andd JL understand the offense because they arent taking a written test.

Can they throw the ball and make the plays? We know the answer is "Once in a blue moon they can", while Mett can actually make the throws, no doubt.

What do you base this on?

Is there some precedent from Miles that leads you to think this?

when did this pansy crap take over sports? if you aren't good enough, sit the freakin' bench until you get better. Coddling players never works. It only makes things worse in the long run.

I'd say the real precedent is that JJ is going to start and won't be pulled regardless of how badly he really screws up. Lee outplayed Jefferson for 7 or 8 games last year and still never got the chance to start. I'd say it is pretty clear.

I am just glad Fobbs is starting over Randle. Gibbs caught the TD pass and all. I figure that is good enough for me!!!Fobbs for Heisman
