Pat Summitt had a better severance package. She, and now her son, gets $173K for life.

I would imagine the only way he takes another job is if it pays more than his LSU stipend. Considering his coaching ability I find that doubtful as FCS schools dont have it in their budget.

That was her retirement package, she wasn't fired.

How does it work if he gets a new job? he would have to get paid more or equal to what he was making here for LSU to be off the hook?

Whoever gave him that last extension should be canned as well.

Well, she literally gave her life for the University. What they agreed to pay her for life is a mother fricking pittance of what she did for the University and the lives she touched.

Poor analogy

Les is guaranteed to make his contracted amount even if he doesn't work

So if he takes a job, they pay him and LSU pays the difference (if any) to get that amount.

It's not the "if he takes a job he loses the LSU money" that some seem to think it is.

In most contracts, the buyout is reduced by the amount of the new salary. IDK for sure, but I imagine it works that way for Miles.

Usually the way the buyout contract works is that if Les gets another job paying X over his buyot number amount then LSU can reduce the payments to Les by that amount.

Les gets 1.5 Million per year from LSY.
IF LEs gets a job paying over 1.5 million a year the LSU can reduce its amount to les by the overage amount. One thing that is going to make LES atttactive to another school is they can say hey will pay you 1.495 million a year. Les still brings home 3 million a year. Kinda like in the NFL with a CAP hit when a team trades a player.

Worth every penny to have him away from the program.

That's more than Tom Herman made at UH as of last year.

At 1.5 million a year, there are a lot of teams that would get us off the hook on the buyout if Miles was hired.
