not last night. for the FIRST TIME i witnessed him throwing the ball away more than once. and the sack you talk about, it was one of his better plays of the night; the old lee would have somehow thrown it up for grabs after the first stutter step or fumbled the ball right before he got hit. i saw a big improvement and i think kragthorpe and his maturity are the reason why. hopefully he will continue to improve and realize his potential.

i didn't think he looked that scared. he hung in well and did throw the ball away when there was nothing there.

What Lee needs is receivers who will catch the ball. Too many drops skews his numbers. He did fine.

Watch the replay. Those "drops" were poorly thrown balls. Yall need to be honest with yourselves about this.

Agreed - he had a couple good ones that were dropped but also some bad ones. I wasn't impressed - looks like we're the same team as last year - great running team, great D, and bad QB play.

In any event, what do the receivers' drops have to do with Lee's fear to take a hit?

The pass to Clement was poorly thrown?
Lee was closer to the fumble than anyone and didn't want to dive on it. Looked very timid. He'll stand in and take a hit if he's delivering the ball. However, if he doesn't have a receiver and someone is baring down on him, that's when he panics and throws off his back foot or up for grabs. Hopefully this game will give him some confidence, but this is a hard habit to break. If you're skeered...you're skeered.

I've always told people he looks like the guy in grade school playing tackle the man with the ball and as soon as he's about to get tackled, he throws the ball up in the air.

same team as last yr? are you serious?

last yr's team struggled mightily with spread offenses. even freaking ole miss every yr.

the offensive line looks worlds better.

i'm sorry but i completely disagree. this team is much more legit regardless of qb play.

ware is a beast, but ford impressed the heck out of me.

Whoever posted above that the Oregon qb looked relaxed is crazy. That dude looked rushed and eratic ( because he was facing our big and fast defense, ofcourse.)

LSU hangs a 40 burger on Oregon and some LSU fans are unimpressed.. given all the shite they and Miles have gone thru of late..

Seriously..

That is the worst game I've ever seen of D Thomas. He looked absolutely awful.

We had a great D last year. We had a great running game last year. Therefore, same team. Sure, those areas might be better this year, but that's not the point. We still will struggle at the qb position this year. No doubt about it.

Fortunately, we're still good enough to do some damage if Lee cam continue to avoid big mistakes and just get us by.

We must have watched a different game, I saw several instances where he stood in pocket, delivered the ball and took a shot from Oregon... Not sure why the fumble is relevant as Lee was not even close to it and ran up to it like other LSU players did where the offensive lineman diving on top and receivers/QB watching to see if it squirts out again.

We must have watched different games. Lee was in the best position of anyone to recover the ball. He appeared afraid to jump on it.

And that is BS about protecting him arm. Imagine JJ doing the same. He would be called a coward like when he suggested a run by Scott against Georgia that ended in a TD.

He has more courage, moxie and guts in his little finger than you have in your entire body.

Ford was a monster. The best running back on the field. Thought he should have had more carries. Ware was a battering ram. They are a great 1-2 punch. Look out SEC!!!!

Lee needs to have a few practices without the green shirt on - let him get used to some contact.

Thank God you're not our coach. Let our starting QB get pounded on in practice...Brilliant!

I saw several instances yesterday where Lee stood in the pocket and delivered, taking hits in the process. I don't see any internet tough guys out there mixing it up with opposing defenses.

Are u guys fricking serious. Lee took straight rocks to the chin strap on numerous occasions last night. One play specifically I remember it looked like he had his torso snapped in half.

Are y'all really all the way down to using the "Well you couldn't do any better!" defense?

Well no shite bro, that's why fans don't play. If your only expectation for a player is that they're better at football than the team's fans, then I suspect you'll be very pleased this year.

Agree ... Lee has all the tools, but still appears to be afraid of contact (or at least just very nervous about it). I'm hoping it was just timing, but several passes were just poorly thrown. The one pass that was almost intercepted was way behind Peterson, and it was only a 5 yard pass. One swing pass to Ford (?) was lobbed into the flat, just begging to be intercepted. Peterson also saved him with a 1-handed snag on a short pop pass.

On the plus side, the long pass to OBJ was nice and well set up by the play action fake.

Here's to JLee gaining more confidence in himself and his teammates and putting it all together this season.
