Lee must lose his fear

of getting hit on the football field. He seems to play afraid of getting hit. I know the atheletes playing football these days are big, fast and fearsome looking. But getting hit is just part of the game. And you cannot play the game effectively if you a scared of contact. Real football player will say they did not settle down until they got hit. Lee seems to avoid contact at all costs.
Lee seems to panic when he thinks he is going to get hit. And it affects his whole game. Notice on the fumble. He was afraid to recover it. Notice when he was surrounded by Ducks and totally freaked out and ran in circles. Notice that he throws off his back foot constantly. Or when he is about to be hit he just throws the ball up for grabs.
Lee has all the tools it takes to be a super QB. He has to get over that fear. I am unaware of anybody being killed on the football field. Not any QB's I know of the have been paralized.
If Lee loses that fear, LSU has a great QB on their hands and a truly great season in store. If not, its fingers crossed everytime he drops back to pass, with the hopes that pressure will not cause him to lose his faculties and trip the f out. Maybe he needs a good shot of Jack Daniels before games or a toke of something else.

thats because he was thrown into action too early and had a terrible o-line then...once he starts to trust this oline he will get better

No its not its because he is afraid of getting hit during throwing when he can't defend himself.

That throwing off his back foot is painful to watch. Even when he steps into a pass, his first move is to back up 3-4 steps so he avoid the phantom hit. Still glad he is the qb, but being scared to take a hit bothers me.

The coaches may want to put Lee in shotgun with some quick passes. This would eliminate his fear of getting hit.

I always believed JJ never enjoyed the game. After the TD against Bama I finally saw him look relaxed.
JL is definitely NOT a relaxed and loose player. That said, I noticed early on in the game how relaxed and flexible the duck's QB was. In the end neither concern of mine mattered.
JL's team 40 and scoreboard.

I hope he shakes it. Its painful to see him soo protective and wimpy acting. He did get the job done.

He is protecting himself. He back pedals after every pass, just like Brett Favre did. When he had to stay in the pocket and take a hit, he did. He was protecting himself during the fumble and jumped in with his knees. No need in hurting your throwing arm or hand in a pileup at that point if the game.

I agree - Lee needs to have a few practices without the green shirt on - let him get used to some contact.
I remember my first negative impression of Lee - back before all the pic-6s piled up on him. He was forced to run on an option play on third down and he went down voluntarily just a yard from the first down marker when if he had just lowered his head and continued he would have made the first down with two yards to spare.
He MUST get over the fear of contact.
He has all the tools - I like him.

playing early wasn't the issue as much as the playcalling. he wasn't protected by the playcalling and asked to do too much.
and if you're gonna have to start as a freshman in CFB, there's prob no better situation to than the offensive personnel he had around him in 08.
basically 8 starters returning from a record-setting championship offense, and the other 2 guys (Scott and Barksdale) had played a lot. so this....

Lee needs better receivers and better play calling!

But, it's pretty easy to see that he won't

What Lee needs is receivers who will catch the ball. Too many drops skews his numbers. He did fine.

chill out over Lee
It was clear he got better during the game as it unfolded
This will continue
He had some drops and misfortunes throwing the ball early
Correct that and we're home free

I saw that too. I really liked that and I think that sort of thing will keep his team fired up too.

We must have watched a different game, I saw several instances where he stood in pocket, delivered the ball and took a shot from Oregon... Not sure why the fumble is relevant as Lee was not even close to it and ran up to it like other LSU players did where the offensive lineman diving on top and receivers/QB watching to see if it squirts out again.
