Nola was also brought up kinda slow. He didn't start out as an every weekend starter, more like a midweek guy.

Lange's????

The new balls are much more conducive for better "Hitting". Thus, what Lange has done this year is even more impressive!!

Nola had tremendous control.. he could paint the plate as a freshman. Just had to learn more about spotting his pitches. Lang has certainly saved us this year, though. If we only had one more Lang at this point....

He is a stone cold killer on the mound.

All Hail King Alex.

Ok...Well since everyone else wants to compare and try to argue ridculous names just to attempt to one-up each other, then...

JC Holt and it's NOT EVEN CLOSE.

He didn't even play varsity as a freshman, we ain't talking about "redshirt" scrubs here.

I read "deflated stats" as being a bad thing: they were lower than what they would've been in the past. I guess if OP meant the opposite than at least 2 of us misunderstood.

Whoah whoah whoah now wait just a minute. I meant in terms of quality not in terms of magnitude. I see all those downvotes, and to those of you who issued those, it's semantics. Sorry folks.

Lange is unquestionably the best freshman pitcher in LSU history. He's the first with 100k's and he has 131

Pistol Pete was great, but remember freshmen could not play on the varsity in his day.

Lange has been outstanding this season; I believe the OP should have said best baseball freshman ever at LSU.

Nola wasn't even close to this good as a freshman.
