Oh cool, this bullshite again.

She has over 1 million reasons to stay in Waco...and she has built a powerhouse there that I am sure she has no desire to leave.

These threads are predictable when it comes to women's basketball:

1) Fire the coach
2) Bring back Pokey
3) Bring Mulkey "home" even though she has no ties to LSU
4) Just a matter of time before the lesbian jokes kick in.

I used to be a season ticket holder and I thought Nikki was a good hire. I was very wrong and gave up the tickets 2 years ago. The recruiting has been a disaster. Even with the injured players this year we would be a lower, middle of the pack team in the SEC. They are just bad and no prospects of getting better. I don't really have an issue with her "x and o"'s of coaching but the talent is not there because she won't recruit. I would have no issue with her being fired but at the least she needs a whole new staff with some aggressive recruiters if she is not willing to do it herself.

Can't argue. You are one of the posters whose opinion about women's basketball I take seriously because you actually follow the program and aren't one of these random, knowledge-less jackasses who show up on a message board to randomly fire shots.

I have said in several posts that I think next year is the make-or-break year for this staff. It will all come down to how good the transfers are. If Neubert and Jackson are as good as advertised, then there will be a good young nucleus to build on. Jackson, Moncrief, Mitchell, Neubert, and Hyder could be a pretty good starting 5 and they will be young and have a couple of years to grow together. Charlene Thomas -Swinson was brought in to be a good recruiter and should get another year to settle in and do her thing.

The current staff should get next year to get it rolling back the right way. If they don't have this thing pointed in the right direction by the close of business in 2017, then I am all for blowing it up.

In defense of the bring back Pokey crowd, this is a reasonable option. There are no major coaches that are going to make the switch to come to LSU. Why take another chance on another Nikki Caldwell? You have a proven commodity in Pokey Chatman.

Regarding the relationship with a player, I have posted this before because my sister worked for the LSU athletic department at the time. Pokey and that FORMER player were in a long term relationship dating back to when Pokey was an assistant. Everyone in the athletic department knew about the relationship when Pokey was hired as a head coach. The former player was playing professional basketball in Europe at the time the story came out. It was only until that a bitch of an assistant coach Carla Berry got pissed at Pokey and then threatened to report the story to ESPN did LSU cave under the pressure and force Pokey to resign. To this day, Carla Berry has never coached college basketball again while Pokey is a WNBA head coach/general manager. The whole situation to me is simple, both women, Pokey and the former player, were grown adults over the age of 21 that choose to have a relationship together. Why should we be the moral police judge? The result of potential public pressure has been that we let a bitch named Carla Berry manipulate and destroy an elite women's basketball program.

IMHO, I don't think LSU could get a better hire than to bring back Pokey unless they somehow pulled a miracle and got Mulkey or Geno Auriemma which aren't happening. So I think the bring back Pokey threads and comments have credence.

Do you think they would actually bring back Pokey, I am all for it. I think the 'scandal' got blown way out of proportion and was stretched too far.

I have no confidence in this AD to make any decisions; right, or wrong.

1. It will take $650K to buy out Nikki prior to June 30, 2016. After June 30, 2016, it goes down to $450K. I say fire her after the SEC Ty and hire back Pokey.

2. The Tickfaw Tart isn't coming to LSU.

I don't think it will happen because that would require Joe Alleva to make a ballsy move and I think he has proven he is fully incapable of that. But I seriously don't think there is a better hire available than to bring back Pokey.

The idea of giving Nikki Caldwell another year is a joke. This program is dead right now. Please just put it out of its misery and cut the cord.

I'd rather buy her out and be done with it now. The program is practically dead right now, no excitement or anything to look forward too. Like someone just said, I do not have confidence in our AD to make a competent decision and hire.

I know it is not the same, but they brought Petrino back to Louisville. In a non-revenue sport, I think LSU could take the heat. With the environments around colleges right now, Pokey being a great Basketball Coach and former Alum, is just icing on the cake.

If you look at Caldwell's contract, the idea that we owe her money and that she makes more than Paul is another reason Alleva should be gone. Does the BOS actually do research on their decisions?

There isn't but you're living in a fantasy world if you think any AD would do it. Public perception is Pokey "seduced" an active player and that genie is out of the bottle and is never getting explained away. In addition Pokey sued LSU and people above the AD get hurt feelings over that type of thing.

PM is at the top of his sport, which is a smaller deal nationally, and Caldwell might be top 15. Her job pays better than his, doesn't matter if he's better.

All the things you've stated are the exact story I've heard from folks as well. However, there is NO WAY Pokey will ever come back here to coach. Even if they hired her, she'd have an impossible task in recruiting kids. The perception is that she seduced one of her players into a relationship, and most parents are not gonna send their kid to a coach with that reputation, plain and simple.

Also, those of you who KEEP asking about Mulkey.........................you do realize that she's making $1.2 million at Baylor right? She's a LaTech alum. So, how much do you think she'd come to LSU for........................? $1.7 million......? $2 million............? Yea, I'm sure the crowd who bellyaches about Nikki's contract are gonna love that.

The bottom line is, as bad as this season is, it is her first bad season. She's not going to be fired after this season. The recruiting has been awful, I agree. But they're definitely going to give her time to right the ship. So, y'all might as well stop complaining, endure this current bad season, and look forward to next season. We already know this season is a wash. Quit complaining about it.

I don't think Nikki should be fired. She's the only attraction for the program. Simone Augustus isn't walking through that door, people. She was only reason I watched those teams, and Nikki is only reason I will pay attention until another local Legend walks through those doors.

INJURIES!!! I mean my god. If anybody on here actually knew what they were talking about they would know why they are so bad this year. Have missed their top player all year (moncrief), same with their top recruit who started the first 2 games of the year( A Mitchell). AJ hurt her ankle and she's out for a while. J deemer is really sick and they are holding her out as a cautionary move. They roll out with 6 players EVERY NIGHT, because they have too.

What more do you expect? There's 3 walk ons who were brought on simply to give the girls somebody to practice against bc everybody is hurt. They will
Be fine next season. Tatum and Chloe (2 transfers) are good, especially Chloe.

You can't do anything about injuries, just can't. Not Nikki's fault 1 bit.

I feel like depth of the team has been talked about every year she has been here. That is not the issue to me, the issue is we don't have the talent, period, even if we had Moncrief and Mitchell, we are still a middle of the back SEC team and the direction of the program is downwards. There are also rumors about a player potentially transferring next season.
The transfers aren't bad, but they ARE NOT program changers. Yes, they will help a lot and add depth, but they won't make us a top tier SEC team.
Plus, we have another average class coming in next season.
