This isn’t true for every player. Pate said he has talked to the recruiting analysts and players don’t talk about NIL as much as people make it seem like. He said very few players go with the most money solely**. Same with wins.

It was clear from the start that NIL would benefit schools with deep pockets at the detriment of everyone else. Saw reports where kids now want $5k just to visit a school.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa...Stop. Right there. You either want to treat recruiting with nuance, or you don't. LSU is either always getting outbid, or they aren't. Make up your mind, then we can have a discussion about it.

You’re the one counting on “commits” before they even sign a LOI

Wait, just realized who I was replying to. Guy who’s never been right about anything.

They don't.

Recruiting has nuance. Yea, Some kids will fight over the money. But A lot of kids just want to go to a place they feel comfortable and can play early.

I have followed recruiting hardcore for 25 years. The patterns are not all that different when it comes to LSU.

Fans just cannot get NIL out of their head. Every recruiting loss is because of NIL to them. But they fail to acknowledge the wins when the variables are the same.

The data & context proves that is simply not always about money.

Two Louisiana HS DL not knowing who their DL position is going to be at LSU and thus committing to TAMU is not necessarily NIL related

they havent signed yet

You are counting LSU's recruiting losses before they even sign a LOI.

BK’s salary is absolutely irrelevant to the discussion on how to recruit in the NIL era.

We could pay BK less and spend more on Coordinators, and or use money for his salary to go towards NIL.

This is the truth and anyone who bothers to pay for a subscription to On3 or 247 knows it. We made comparable NIL deals for guys like McKinley. This staff is comprised of former Grand Valley State coaches who are getting out worked on the trail by Elijah Robinson and other elite recruiters. Kelly is proving to be what he always has been as a recruiter. This class will finish ranked somewhere in the teens like most of his classes at Notre Dame did. That might win you the occasional Citrus Bowl but it's not going to win championships. UGA, Bama, A&M, Texas and even Florida are running circles around us in recruiting.

We should have hired a coach who knows what it takes to compete in the SEC arms race. Instead Woodward hired Kelly.

I am not counting them as losses. I just don’t count on recruits until the LOI is signed and they are actually on campus.

Lot can happen between now and then.

Yes we may actually sign some or all of them. But to deny the possibility that another school won’t buy them away just because they are “committed” is silly.

I’m sure they paid a frick ton of cash for a DL ranked in the 20-40 range at his position.

I don’t either. That has nothing to do with the point though.

You either think they are getting outbid against certain schools, or you dont.

LSU has beat A&M for kids. If every recruiting win or loss is about money, then you cannot factually say A&M is outbidding lsu

Not how it works anymore, PawPaw.

I don’t like it anymore than you do. But there it is.
