I didn't pull that thread out of thin air. He said something like "the biggest stories of the day, Fowler choosing Texas and Cam Cameron is likely leaving LSU."

He dropped that bombshell then kept on talking about recruiting. He definitely fricked up.

So if he says "no comment", doesn't that just imply the same thing?
How about an "I haven't heard anything" or "Right now that would be pure speculation"?

TIFWIW I think it happens in next few days

Even if true, this is still looking like amateur hour inside the LSU athletic department. I admit that I was on board with the change at head coach if we had Fisher coming in, but for whatever reason, that didn't happen. Les Miles is the head coach and he deserves the right to select his own assistants. If you don't like his assistants, and think they aren't doing a good job, then fire the head coach. If you aren't willing to fire the head coach, then you allow him to do his job his way.

It's an obsession that majority of people here have.
Pack mentality to destroy others.

Not a single regular fan had heard about the Cam situation until he acknowledged it...so yeah he broke it and broadcast it.

Not sure if true, but both he and Ott claimed that people had been discussing Cam leaving all morning at the Bayou Bash. If Charles thought word of Cam's departure had already gotten around, he probably figured he'd just share what he heard.

I'm not saying it was handled well, but Hanny didn't act like he was breaking a big story when it was first mentioned.

Deflect. It's not hard.

"I'm not sure about all that. I am sure that we have a great recruiting class coming in and we should be pumped up for next season"

I had close friends there and none of them knew anything about that. And no one on TD had any idea.

Its simple, the only reason everybody found out was because of him. Thus, he "broke" the story.

Just so we are clear, he's on the radio. This is him breaking news regardless of what brought him to say it. If he didn't want to break it, he should have said "I don't know anything about the tweets I'm getting about Cameron leaving".

The cam story was gaining traction well before Hanny went on air, I know that much

Explain, because consensus so far says otherwise. The only thing that was "known" by the masses was his contract hadn't been renewed, yet.

FWIW a few threads popped up on LSUs 247 board asking if anyone heard that Cam is leaving hours before Handy reported it

He was asked about what he had heard, and he said to the best of his knowledge, it was true.

To be clear, he said that he had heard it from multiple sources and that he believes Cameron is gone.

He didn't say, "it's my gut feeling" or anything like that. He was definitely reporting on INFORMATION. Admittedly, he never claimed it was confirmed. But, he strongly implied that it was done.

I like Hannagriff overall. But, if you are going to report something like this, you have to be clear on what you are and aren't saying. The guy has been in the business forever. This is a rookie move.

Great, so now we know his source. And how many message board visitors have been frustrated with LSU's offense to start asking those questions. C'mon man.

if you think hannagriff went on the air with a story based on one thread he read on the internet then you're pretty damn stupid.

Charles likely has/had good information, he just jumped the gun on it.

Gaining traction? Word of mouth rumor?

Hanagriff gave credibility to a rumor by adding that he spoke with multiple sources "within the organization". He didn't say, "hey, there is plenty of discussion about Cameron going on..." and then read between the lines. The guy was breaking it on air.

What a perfect answer to the "question" that Charlie felt he was asked. "All I know for sure is that Cam's contract has not been renewed."

End of topic, no controversy, no three ring circus.

Obviously, but again he didn't sound like he believed he was breaking the story. He sounded like the person in a movie or TV show who casually mentions someone's pregnancy to a group of people who have no idea.

I don't know what Hanny's intent was, but I don't think it was as big of a deal as some are making it out to be. Signing day is over and Cam still doesn't have a contract extension. It doesn't take a radio show host to connect dots.
