I heard almost the same thing at about the same time, from another source, only I heard we were hiring Major Applewhite as O.C. That's a little more than Hannegriff's story.

Asked about what he heard? I don't follow radio or anything, but who asked him something that caused him to say that shite on NSD? Also, what did they specifically ask him?
That seems out of the blue to be asked about that on NSD. People around LSU don't know when to just shut the hell up.

You are not correct. I was listening to the show when Hanagriff just out of the blue while talking about recruits said something like: looks like Cam will not be the OC. Then said but we will get into that later. I was like wait what? How do you throw that bombshell and then not want to discuss it?

This situation sheds light on the problem with sports reporting. Sports writers and broadcasters are often NOT journalists.
One of the most fundamental tenets of responsible journalism is that, if you get a tip, YOU VERIFY. If you can't verify with the institution/person in question, you don't have a story. If you DO verify, and no one is willing to go on the record, you DON'T HAVE A STORY.
Too much of sports media is rumor and unsubstantiated bullshite noise because of the environment that suggests that it's somehow alright to not backup the information because people want to know NOW.
Aside from all that, this happened on NSD. Charlie is a veteran broadcaster. He should damn well know better than to potentially harm the reputation of the school for incoming recruits.
Not to mention the fact that, if his info were true, we all know how sensitive coaching change time is. A premature report can DESTROY a deal that is being kept under wraps. And it makes the athletic department look like amateurs who can't keep their flaps shut.
Backpedaling and saying "But, I was just answering a question" is a bullshite cop out.

I was standing next to the table when he said. " I've spoken to a few people inside the organization about the CC situation which causes me to believe it's true" TIFWIW I think it happens in next few days
