I'm sure that Havenstein's response is a freudian slip, but I thought his response (regarding the fact that Melvin Gordon only got four carries in the second half) was interesting. I am curious, though.......just how much money is Haverstein making now and what is the source?
quote:

"Senior right tackle Rob Havenstein was asked if he wondered why Gordon spent so much time idling on the sideline in the second half".
“That’s not my call,” Havenstein said. “I’m not the offensive coordinator. If I was I’d be making a whole lot more money.
Here is the link.......

Yeah call the NCAA, because there's no shot in hell this kid was just using that as a figure of speech

Just seems like a turn of phrase to me. If they are paying their Oline, it isn't enough. Who cares?

His statement would be just as true if he's not making any money.

I take it more as being just an off-handed comment, and nothing to read into...

I think it's a huge deal. It shows a lack of maturity and sheds bad light on the program. Now, the NCAA has no choice but to investigate.

I'm a total shoe-in for an ESPN job.

Not a good comment to make even if you are trying to be funny. Heard by the wrong person, your program is going to get a big bright light shined on it. And if they want to find something, they might just do that. Maybe he wishes he could take it back.

Maybe he meant that he would be paid more than the current OC if he was the OC. Still not a good thing to say.

Click on the link of McEvoy's interview after the game. When asked (about 30 second mark) if LSU did anything different in the second half to stop them he said, no.

Guess he didn't pick up on the run blitzes.

Yeah, but it's pretty ironic, because in their whining on their comment boards that was one of the things they brought up that, "LSU pays its players."
