I don't know how this ends, but Chavis didn't handle the situation well at all. I like that LSU is making him sweat. Beckwith looked like an AA for about 6 games in a row last year until ND when he looked lost as did the rest of the D, Thank you Chavis for working hard till the end.

With Chavis writing a check for 400k plus cost.

Apparently during the courting phase Chavis was lead to believe AnM would pay the freight. Now AnM wont pay the 400k. And get this, that has caused trouble in paradise.

Prediction: Chavis writes the check and is at AnM for two years.

I don't think that's accurate at all. I think A&M has said they would cover any buyout. LSU may very well get a 400k check, but I think it will be coming from A&M.

It wouldn't be in the courts right now if A&M were willing to pay the buyout

If it is determined that Chavis owes the buyout -- or any amount of "liquidated damages" to LSU -- Texas A&M is obligated to pay that amount, as of Feb. 12, according to the lawsuit. Texas A&M is named as a defendant in the suit because of that obligation.

Said Texas A&M senior associate athletic director for external affairs Jason Cook in a statement Friday evening: "There is not a dispute between Coach Chavis and Texas A&M. The university stands behind its commitment to Coach Chavis to pay any buyout due to LSU. The issue is that Texas A&M disagrees with LSU that any buyout payment is actually due."

Why not try to fight it or have it reduced? (not siding with A&M but this is pretty standard stuff).

Under his agreement with A&M, Chavis probably has the contractual right to play this out, try to dirty up LSU and "preserve his reputation".
If I represented him and thought there were reputational issues, I would have insisted on this.
Plus, the Texas court may exercise jurisdiction after all, and Chavis will get much better treatment there.

I'm just as interested in the fireworks that's going to come between Judge Kelley and Jill Craft. I had no idea she was representing Chavis here.

That's not how it works. Chavisor aTm will have to pay, but that is considered income and he Will be taxed, basically losing 30%

Love it! frick that lying, disrespectful piece of shite.

chavis wants his cake and to eat it too (because he's a fatass)

he wants the buy out to be paid by A&M, but doesn't want it to count as income.

I don't see any way it cannot be considered income. But who cares, there is now ZERO doubt that LSU is getting their coin. Hopefully legal fees as well are to be paid by the loser!

LOL at aTm thinking they can accomplish anything. We lose the fat slob and gain a better DC who turned around recruiting IMMEDIATELY!

Like always in LSU v aTm.........Lsu wins

Chavis is likely the better X's and O's guy. But I'd much rather have a couple of top notch recruiters.
