Hopefully he is bigger and stronger this season and ready to pay the price of stepping up and delivering a throw while getting smashed by the pass rush. Last year he got hurt in big games a lot and became less effective for a few plays after some big hits
The shot he took against Bama would have put every QB down buy maybe Jamarcus or Rohan.

You can't say for sure Lee would have won the job.
No, but the succession plan had Lee ahead of JJ, and Lee has always been a practice phenom. It's when he gets in a game that his head gets all twisted. Then again, had he had the opportunity to mature behind RP, who knows.
Either way, our little side discussion has little to do with the underlying theme of this thread.

He apparently is having an amazing spring and is understanding the playbook and the offense better than he did last year.

I hope he and Miles fail miserably so that I look good for saying they would. Wait, wut?

Negatigers, For the good of the team and us fans, try and enjoy life for a change. Spring is for revival and regeneration. Let the real LSU fans revel in it for a change. Last year is gone...let it go. We were a good to average team last year for reasons that don't exist anymore. Offense and defense will be better this year. Non-believers are the most miserable people in the entire world...trust me, I know these things. Shed your misery and join in the fun!!!!! Life is too short!!!!! I know this also!!!!

I think we'll be better, but what are the reasons that suddenly disappeared?

Jefferson is the least of our worries....he'll do just fine

I love JJ and will support him until the end but the kid needs (2) things:
1) Leadership
2) Chemistry with wideouts
He's never had that determined presence that he is going to take the team on his back. March the ball downfield 80 yards with the game on the line in the last minute and dominate an opponent.
He is definitely more of a managing type QB but he needs to step up this year and lead.

Any thoughts?
'extreme ambivalence' comes to mind. we've heard this song before and until JJ harnesses his potential and starts to consistently make plays he will remain an unknown factor.
spring drills are not = to game or SEC speed.

So Crowton left?

The same can be said of 99% of any comments given.

We have to give props to Dandy Don, who predicted JJ would not be ready for prime time until junior year, but then DD thought Ryan Perilloux would be starting those last two seasons.

Why do you act like that song was a lie last time we heard it?
Indeed, last season, when reports said JJ was understanding the playbook better, having more confidence, ETC, they were absolutely true. Now, it's a given that all they had to compare it to was his freshman season, and one start (bowl game).
Regardless, there's no reason to "take it with a grain of salt", IMO, because if he's been working at it, which we know he has been, and he's not splitting time with JL or RS, which gives him more reps, that combined with the reports of his development, leaves us no reason to believe that he hasn't improved over last year. Plain and simple.

No you don't.

My thoughts are this should be expected. He is another year older with a full season under his belt and another off season with the playbook. If he doesn't know it better this year, he won't ever.
