Johnny Jones will be back at LSU in 2016-17. "Go ahead and put it out there," Joe Alleva - per Pat Forde Twitter account

I will be attending one less home LSU basketball game than the only one that I attended this season.

The players or our head coach? Because I am pretty sure he has never fully understood any system.

I am 100% renewing mine. I'd do it no matter who the players are or the coach is. I am LSU through and through

Our programs no.1 issue above play calling or depth, is our compete lack of continuity and chemistry. Our guys had no fricking clue how to play to each other's strengths last year. I think if Tim and Tone come back, and we don't have to replace our assistant and start from scratch again, we'll be a better more cohesive team next year.

You're blaming our woes on turnover of assistant coaches?!?! Good god.

This would be the perfect letter to Alleva, or the best context question from a solid reporter.

I know this is not of popular opinion, but he deserves one more season. He improved this team for 3 years straight, and for some reason fell completely on his face this past season with a lot of talent.

"for some reason??" Uh, the reason is that he's an awful coach.

Brageous thank you for being the only one on this site with some common sense . jones screwed up one season. Its not the end of lsu basketball people

He didn't just "screw up" one season. He embarrassed LSU basketball in the process. He actually set LSU basketball back this season in a major way. Moving forward, there's no way in hell you're going to get "blue chip" recruits under him, and he's certainly shown he's not capable of being an X's and O's coach. Realistically, to all of those saying "give him another shot", I ask, "what do you honestly see as an expectation for him moving forward and how the hell is he going to achieve those goals?" His one biggest asset, recruiting, just took a MASSIVE hit by taking the most NBA ready prospect since LBJ and potentially costing him the #1 pick. Sure, Simmons didn't help his cause, but this is a major black eye on Jones' resume. You think 6'8'' 240 18 year old SFs with handles and instincts grow on trees? Come on. This roster in the hands of 3/4 the coaches in the NCAA Tourney would likely be a 4 seed or higher.

Well, the 1966-1967 team's 1-17 SEC Mark might be tied in '16-'17. What a special 50th year anniversary.

So can I expect to see a congratulatory thread from you when they beat this mark and end up .500 or better in SEC play?

No, no he doesn't. He has hit his ceiling and just completed the most disappointing and embarrassing season in the history of LSU basketball.
Our athletic department has now hit an all time low.

by giving it a year, you're just creating a bigger mess for the next guy and making the job that much more unattractive. Fantastic strategy.

His post-season press conference was the final straw for me

Blakeney's mystery illness, bragging about his wealth of NIT experience, blaming the College of Charleston loss on not having Victor

Absolutely clueless and zero accountability. Real sucks we couldn't throw a blank check to Brad Underwood

From his season-ending press conference:

Unfortunately we fell short of the mark of returning, getting back to the NCAA Tournament, and I certainly assume all responsibility for our shortcomings there.

But Blakeney was sick (yet he doesnt know with what)
But Victor was out
But we cant play without Hornsby
But we are too afraid to play on the road in a hostile environment.

He gave every excuse under the sun and even made up a few. Thats far from taking responsibility regardless of one singular comment he made.

Accountability would be him doing a Steve Alford and giving a year back on his contract.

Every single fan made the same excuses when we lost early games without Hornsby and Victor. The man is at a press conference to discuss the season. Obviously losing those players was large part of the season.

The fans don't get paid to coach. Fans making excuses =/= coaches making excuses.

And it still doesn't explain the absolute train wreck during the second half of SEC play.
