man there is no reason this team shouldnt have been in the tournament this year. zero excuse
I agree and it is most likely going to be a tough season next year with a split between the two, but given that 3 of his 4 years seemingly were decent or at least improving, I'm fine with one season.
And for the negatigers, don't worry....if he is not the coach we need, it will show next year. If he somehow forms a team that is tournament bound, then my god it'll be a coaching turnaround.

Johnny Jones will be back at LSU in 2016-17. "Go ahead and put it out there," Joe Alleva
In other words, his boss won't let him fire the janitor if it involves a buyout.

The thing I am kinda scared of is him turning the team around next year just enough to keep his job and buy himself a couple more years, but in the end he never takes us to the next level and we just delay the inevitable.
If he bungled the opportunity we had with this season so bad, I really have no faith he'll ever move the program forward.

e improved this team for 3 years straight
I would challenge that, as I've seen that a lot here.
Pretty much the same record year 2 as year 1 with better talent on paper.
On the NIT bubble both years and could have just as easily gone the first year and not the second. And I'd consider year 2 with 3 future NBA players...I consider year 2 to be an underachievement. I think year 1 we held serve. Not sure why that's always considered an improvement. Just because we went to the NIT? That doesn't work in my view.

Calling a 4-14 SEC record next season. Now he has no talent and no coaching ability.

Coaching at D1 SEC school should not be "crap shoot". He can't coach X's and O's. Next. I'll take my chances on somebody that is a student of the game and unproven recruiter all day long. I think you'll get enough talent at a school like LSU to at least make the tournament.

What has been happening at LSU is these coaches keep doing enough to get by, then they use the "I have to get a contract extension to stop the negative recruiting and prove that I will be here for a while". Alleva bites and gives the coach a iron clad contract without a high buyout. LSU gets screwed.

Awesome. That means I will save hours of my life not watching that clown show next season. Thanks Joe.

Are there people who think LSU will be good next year ITT?

I still don't consider those much of an improvement. Our OOC schedule got worse and thus our record got a few wins better at most. The NC state game and the way this year ended absolutely do not show improvement.
We have had above double digit losses every year. Year 1 to 2 we lost an additional 2 games. Having 14 losses at LSU with our OOC schedule is just not good.

I know this is not of popular opinion, but he deserves one more season. He improved this team for 3 years straight, and for some reason fell completely on his face this past season with a lot of talent
I thought LSU fell on it's face last season considering the matchup nightmare Mickey and Martin should have presented to just about every team LSU faced. Then the SEC tourney loss, which, at the time, I though was a nightmare. Then the NCAA tourney loss which was in fact the real nightmare.
Given the obvious talent that Jones has had to work with this past two years, how much time does he deserve? Not being combative but to those who support him, what's a fair barometer of success here?

This year was train wreck. I like JJ, but have no confidence in this improving next year. Until we get rid of Alleva we will have to get used to this shite.

He'll have the no expectations thing working for him, so 6 SEC wins and the Administration will think he hung the moon..... Players might carry him off the court for sympathy...
