Unless Collis Temple has any more children or future NBA players living at his house he needs to stay out of LSU coaching hires

Jones was horrible tonight
1. Back to back slow starts on the road, when we have everything to play for
2. Continuing his "rule" to sit the half with 2 fouls; he showed no adaptability. You can't let this team get down by 13 on the road. He had to play JOB to try to keep it closer...I know the refs were calling it close but...#3 could've helped
3. He gave up on the zone way to early. After the millionth time go not playing the screen right, he continued to just be stubborn and play man. Zone could've helped foul trouble too
The inconsistency of this team makes them a one to two game over .500 team in the league. And it has NIT written all over them.
Very frustrating because just when you think they are over the hump, they come crashing down

I love Johnny's recruiting but the coaching... I wanted Marshall but that's a pipe dream

This was very similar to the UMass game and equally as frustrating. This is a physical team, it's just how they play and when they get a crew that calls every ticky-tack foul and makes up some shite for good measure, it's difficult for them to win. It's not an easy thing to change a team's identity in the course of a game.
They do need to do a better job against that ball screen, but to say that JJ is a bad coach is just dumb.
I understand what you're saying, but how hard is it not leave your feet at the hint of a ball fake 20 feet from the rim? To exert even the slightest effort to redirect a guy off of a ball screen? To move your feet instead of reaching and picking up a bad foul 25 feet from the goal? This group does this over and over again. It's a big reason why they pick up so many fouls.

I thought we should have actually tried to get Dixon.

His wife is from here. I think we tried but CT2 and the good ol boys were dead set on Johnny

But I don't think he's much of a bench coach to be honest. He's ok. Nothing special. Subs and time outs were awful tonight
Is this a Dale Brown retread rant? I feel a sense of dejavu.
Posted on 2/6/14 at 9:12 pm to RushTigerLimbaugh
Can't be. Dale Brown has actually coached in the big dance.

This pretty much what people said about Daddy Dale. Great recruiter, great motivator but so-so bench coach. Brown was at his best when he had great X & O assistants like Tex Winter, etc.
Dale could motivate players to play above their talent but only in certain games.
I will say if I had one game to win I would want Dale Brown firing my players up to believe they were incredible. Hope Johnny Jones can channel his inner Coach Brown.

Out coached by a Trent Johnson protege. Embarrassing.

This team needs an "x's and o's" guy like Treloar or even lyn nance (if he actually attends all games)

Was the 2nd half of this thread as bad as the 1st?? Had to stop mid 2nd page.
My goodness guys. Here's what is going on...
1. Johnny Jones pulled in a TOP frickING FIVE CLASS this past season. Oh, and this dude named Ben Simmons is coming in 2015, and possibly Malik Newman. And Big Elbert NEXT year
2. JOB had to miss most of the game due to early fouls.
3. UGA knocked down SIXTY PERCENT of their shots.
4. Thank God Hammink/Odo/TQ/Malone were only forced to play light minutes.
5. It just wasn't our night.
The ONLY somewhat fair criticism I can allow of coach Jones is the lack of development of some of the younger guys.
Done.

Simmonds still 2 years away fyi... Elbert is a big (both literally and figuratively) get.
Also, don't over look both Hornsby and Bridgewater

Lol you think Ben Simmons is coming next year. Your opinion is automatically invalidated. Good bye

THIS^ To downplay what Johnny Jones has done/is doing, is simply idiotic.
I'm jacked about Hornsby, but are we still getting Bridgewater? I haven't heard anything since his NCAA investigation.
Posted on 2/6/14 at 11:03 pm to CecilShortsHisPants
No one knows what's up with bridgewater but he's a role player at best. Not a starter in this league... Johnny is recruiting well its his on the court abilities that look like they are lacking. He NEEDS a solid assistant. He has a bunch of recruiters right now

Yes, he's cleared the NCAA Eligibility stuff and is enrolled at LSU (I know that for a fact). Coaches decided to NOT bring him in mid-season and waste a year of eligibility apparently.
Posted on 2/6/14 at 11:06 pm to Tigerfan7218
A year is wasted either way dude. Time starts ticking once you enroll in school. Unless he's not taking any classes.

After seeing Tyrus flame out in the league I'm convinced Treloar might be one of the best basketball coaches in the history of the sport. Taking a Brady coached team to the Final Four
