Super excited this guy is back this season. While it may have all been in my head, it seems like Buga was just more comfortable with Moore on the field. I hope he can stay healthy this season.

Haven't seen a ton of discussion on him yet this year, but I think he is one of the key pieces to this offense, especially in short yardage situations.

i hope he holds up and maintains (or elevates) his level of play b/c it appears thsi offense is very FB-dependent

While Moore doesn't always deliver the massive bone crushing blocks that Copeland and Stampley did, he is a better technical blocker than both. He rarely misses blocks and is very good at adapting to the player he has to block. When opposing players crash inside and take themselves out of the play, he moves to the second level. When they dont crash, he kicks them outside. He is extremely fundamentally sound and it gives Buga that split second he needs. Big JDM fan.

Gordy talked about him during the Spring. When he watched tape of when Moore was healthy and then when he went out it was blatantly obvious how much he was missed. He hardly ever made the wrong read or block while Mounton was routinely hitting the wrong guy. He'll be a huge part of the offense again this year. Ott was saying that he actually looked quicker out there today.

I just wish we could find a capable blocker at TE/FB/HB that can also be an offensive threat to catch or run the ball.

JDM may be a terrific blocker but defenses can counter with another big run stuffer when he is in the game bc he is not a threat to make a play with the ball in his hands.

Good to hear. I think a faster FB might suit Buga's running style better than say, a Copeland type; although I really did love Copeland...

And maybe, just maybe, the speed with be coupled with some sort of pass catching threat. Is that too much to ask?

No question our offense/running game changed when we went out. Time to get back into ground and pound mode with 22 personnel!

of course he was more comfortable, JD was out there destroying would-be tacklers in a way not seen since the Almighty Quinn Johnson was doing it.

Mouton did look better as time went on though, and should presumably be better with a year in college.

I'm glad he's healthy, but I don't want to see him on the field more that 10 percent the offensive plays against run stopping defenses.

We need to spread the field against opponents designed to stop the run.

Rather have only Moore or 1 TE on the field the majority of the time.

JD was a TE in high school, with very good hands. He can catch if asked

Full backed based offenses win championships. Defenses never know where the play is going. I wouldn't trade it for the wishbone or any other system from the 60's.

With most teams their success hinges on whether their QB's, RB's, WR's, etc. stay healthy. With LSU it's imperative that the fullback stay healthy. Once Moore went out last year the season went up in flames.

I have really good hands and could catch balls thrown my way. Problem is that I couldn't make CFB players miss tackles or out run anyone to make a play. JDM would have similar problems if he was actually thrown a pass.
