Wake Forest and CofC are inexcusable losses.

That CofC game was pathetic. It was like 40-17 at halftime

What an awful game that was. It was embarrassing. They didn't give a frick about that game coming off those tough losses in New York and it showed.

They are 17-12 and have one good win (wvu
Good RPI, played a tough OOC schedule, and that WVU win goes a long way. The committee loves top 25 and even top 50 OOC wins

How did we lose to Charleston (gosh dang) Southern on the road?

Just think, if we would've went 2-1 over that last 3 game skid we would've clinched the SEC title yesterday

Yeah, and I really don't think a home win over Bama and a road win over a depleted Tennessee team when they were mediocre even before losing their best defensive player....was a lot to ask. Very disappointing.

He says this, yet lists lsu in his "next four out" on his latest bracketology.

The real question is why are we playing Charleston Southern on the road? LSU should never play a team like that and go into a high school gym when you know they will pack it and be right on top of you. It is really asking your team to not show up and they play lights out and beat you.

With that being said that game is totally inexcusable and should never lose that game no matter who is or isn't playing for LSU.

Joe Lunardi stated during the LSU/FLA game that it would take a win at Kentucky or an SEC tournament championship for LSU to get in the NCAA tournament. Said RPI was 90 and that most teams having a 75 rating would not get in.

If we beat Kentucky but then lose in the first game of the SEC tournament (on par for this season) I don't think we make it.

May as well play the backups and rest the starters for the SEC tournament at this point.

they'll have to run the table or make it to sec champ game plus a win at uk...it's pretty clear that's the path it will take, which is a shame...the field is so average this year and we still couldn't make it in

I was def thinking sweet 16 this year...

This. (edit) (But they need the practice is the only legit reason to play them)

Exactly. LSU's non-conf schedule was horrible. That's on Jones. LSU had a lot of hype coming into the season and could have gotten some games against better teams. The fact that every team in the Brooklyn tournament was garbage is not Jones' fault. However, neither NC State, Marquette and/or Arizona St. were highly thought of coming into the season. LSU had to know they needed to stick some better games on the schedule. Instead, they lined up McNeese, @ Charleston, Gardner-Webb, American, Oral Roberts and a Wake Forest team who most knew was going to be an ACC bottom-feeder.

That OOC schedule gave them little room for error in the first place. Losing 5 of those games blew right through that room for error. Despite having some decent wins on the schedule, LSU's RPI is awful because they played nobody and unfortunately, lost to several of those nobodies. Even if they had won 2 or 3 of those non-conf. games they lost, their RPI would still be lacking because the schedule was so week. Thank God ESPN stuck LSU with Oklahoma. Otherwise, the OOC schedule would have been even worse.

It's pathetic that they missed a great opportunity to capitalize off the hype coming into the season by not scheduling anyone worth a shite at home in Nov/Dec. It's biting them in the arse now even though they are still alive for the SEC championship.

that game came at a terrible time for us schedule wise. We just came back from New York where we lost two tough games we really could have easily won. The team was not motivated at all and CoC was pumped up and the crowd was insane for a smaller gym.

I am highly critical of cJJ, so I was really cynical about them making the Sweet 16, but I never imagined they could miss the tournament altogether.

Simple, if we lose to Kentucky we are done unless we WIN the SEC tourney. If we beat Kentucky, then a trip to the SEC semi's MAY be enough to get us in. A trip to the SEC Champ., win or lose, should definitely get us in with these next two W's to close out.

No. Beat UK on the road and make it to the conference semis and you have a chance. That is a much more likely scenario than LSU winning the conference tournament.

They played 5 top 50 teams OOC going 2-3.
They've played 11 top 50 teams overall. It's ok to lose games when you're schedule is hard in college basketball.

Vandy, a 10 seed, lost to Kansas, Baylor, Texas, Dayton and Purdue.
Had they played and beaten American, CoC, Gardner Webb, bitch state, and whogives a shite, they'd still be in the same position they are now (they'd be South Carolina actually, a 9 seed).
But had Vandy beaten just one of those 5 teams they lost to, they'd probably be a 7 seed right now. They win 2 of them, they are probably a 3 or 4 seed like Kentucky is.
There is literally no negatives to playing top teams OOC, assuming you are a good team that can finish around 12-6 in your conference
