Joe Lunardi - LSU is all but out of the NCAA tournament

Joe Lunardi stated during the LSU/FLA game that it would take a win at Kentucky or an SEC tournament championship for LSU to get in the NCAA tournament. Said RPI was 90 and that most teams having a 75 rating would not get in.

I believe it. For us to be in ~3 weeks ago:
We had to win the home game against Alabama and split the Tennessee & Arkansas games. But then we lost all 3..

A lot of that will depend on if there are upsets in the shitty conference tourneys that warrant undeserving teams an auto bid. Also, it's really tight atop the SEC. If LSU finishes in the top 3 and Bama and Florida lose one, that will help greatly. They have to win some amount of SEC tourney games, but it's actually as important to beat Mizzou as it is Kentucky because a loss to Mizzou is probably it. We needed to finish the game against Marquette and Oklahoma.

Basically win the next two games and make the semis of the SEC tournament to make it interesting

I posted this a few weeks ago, but I looked at ncaa teams from. 2009-2015.
Most losses for major conference at-large teams was 14. Highest RPI was 61.
So if that's a guideline, it's trouble

It's crazy he uses RPI but I think I remember an RPI of 35-40 team not making it.

I think the fact that LSU has played well against their toughest competition may help them, but they need to beat mizzou and make SEC tourney finals or beat mizzou and Kentucky and make SEC semis.

Johnny jones' teams do pretty well against kentucky. Each has a blowout win and the rest were close. So anything is possible.

RPI is 84 now.
2-2 vs the top 25.
5-5 vs the top 50.
