There are several cars between 70-120k that are nice. I think anything over 120,000 is absurd unless you're pulling over 3 mill per year.

So you think it's absurd if someone makes $100k a year buys a $20k car?

It's supposed to illustrate a point that even if the worst possible scenario happens and he only makes the guaranteed money from this deal and never earns another penny in life, all he did was spend at the MOST 10% of money in hand on a vehicle.

Thought you could figure that out. Guess not.

i did figure it out, the illustration was just ignorant. however, i'll bite. in your illustration, you're assuming this is the only purchase he would make in that worst case, and very common, scenario. you think a guy making 50k a year his entire career would feel comfortable dropping the kind of money necessary to drive a maserati or would be financially responsible in doing so? yes, hill could end up being a superstar and none of this will matter, and i'm sure this is what he's thinking as well. however, that is not how the majority of nfl careers play out.

Also likely he's leasing it for around $1700-$1800 ish a month. It's really not smart to buy big luxury cars, they depreciate hella quick.

That's a nice Granturismo though he got.

You are acting like he bought an island. He bought a 6 figure car. The man was gonna get a car regardless. At what $60,000? Would you ok with that? So he doubled that and bought a realy nice car. He is GUARANTEED a substantial amount of money.

that car is about 1/3 of his entire year's paycheck after taxes.

Since it is not likely he paid cash for the car, it is no different than someone making over 100K per year (much more than most TD posters), buying an F150. My first thought was how much is insurance for a young male driving that car?

I'm not the one criticizing him because he's a young back male.

What does this have to do with anything. He is living large right now. I have no problem with it. Just keep your head on straight and produce and things will be fine.

The problem is the people that all of a sudden want to be around him. its VITAL that he chooses wisely in this area.

So based on the pic in the OP how exactly is that a problem?

It has nothing to do with the pic. Just overall. He needs to be smart about who he hangs with and who may want to leech off of him.

Terrific running back. Hill ranks up there with Dalton & Cecil. Too many cams watching these days. No way he stays out of trouble....The car purchase proves that he's incredibly immature. Hill is not a class act.

Based on his past transgressions. He should have been kicked off the LSU team. I'm not a fan of him, obviously.

We'll see...

After taxes that's 2 million. So he just spent 10% of his estate on a depreciating asset.

A 120k car for a guy with a million dollar salary is nothing compared to the guys getting a 60-80k car on an 50k-100k salary.

In this job market, their job isn't safe either, yet they still buy. If he bought a bunch of junk, then you can say something, but this guy bought this with his 1.05 mill signing bonus money. Even after taxes, that's only a fourth of his signing bonus and he hasn't even touched his salary. People acting like he bought a Rolls Royce with all the trimmings or something.

That's where the money goes with all the dudes getting broke. A lot of time people go broke from trying to buy shite for everybody else.

After he buys himself a house and car with the signing bonus money, he's good to go until his possible next contract. Of course anything can happen, but the way people act on here, you should buy well below your means, and act like you're still broke. Stay away from the snakes, sharks, and bad investments, and you'll be alright. Easier said than done, but that's the facts.
