Right now his read progression is Trevin Dural, Trevon Dural, run, Trevin Dural. I expect this will get sorted out with a bit more experience.

You miss the play where Dural was covered so he found Quinn on the right side?

I still think he throws a better deep ball than Mettenberger without the arm. He needs to work on some things with his shorter throws and touch on other passes but with time he could be a really good QB. They need to stop running him on options though. He doesn't look comfortable running at all.

He has already displayed more deep throw accuracy than Mett ever did in his entire first year here. I think Mett completed 1 pass for over 30 yards the entire season.

He needs to work on progressions too. That's something I didn't notice in the game but could be wrong. If he doesn't learn to do that teams will eat him alive in the SEC. Need someone other than Dural in our offense and actually throw it to a goddamn TE...

We have like a million TEs on the roster and just use them as blockers.

I don't remember that play but if he is going through progressions that's a great sign for a young QB. That's one of the hardest things to coach and most QBs keep it all the way up to their senior years. Looking off DBs will make life much easier on WRs getting open and double coverages can't just move to where his eyes are all the time.

The kid is playing some ball! A true dual-threat.

Not to split hairs but the number you are quoting is the QB efficiency. QBR is a different statistic.
You are wrong.

The OP correctly labeled the stat as QB Rating.

That's what the stat is. It is also used to determine the efficiency of a college QB. Nevertheless, it is and always has been called the QB Rating, NOT QB efficiency.

The QBR is NOT the QB Rating. The QBR is a bullshite, proprietary stat made up by ESPN. Only ESPN can determine the numbers for a QB. Oh, and it's a bullshite stat.

P.S. Did I mention that QBR is a bullshite stat? Because it's a bullshite stat.

You are wrong.

The OP did not put QBR in the OP. You are the first person to mention QBR in this thread.

I hasten to add that QBR is a bullshite stat.

They need a chunk yardage deep passing game more than they need a short passing game, and that is what they have been establishing with Dural and Jennings. A short passing game is not going to stop teams from loading the box vs the run. If they can get teams to start thinking about not leaving Dural one on one on the outside, that will go a long way towards opening up the run game and the underneath passing game.
