statistically McElroy MAY have a better year than Garcia but you are missing my point. McElroy works within a system that can achieve balance because they have an excellent running game. Ideally that is what you work for as an offense. Even Texas Tech wants to have the ability to make people pay in the run game if they over play the pass.

For the most part, Garcia did not have that luxury this season and he still performed well. It is a hell of a lot harder as a QB to make plays when your offense can't piss a drop running the ball even when your opponent is playing with 2 high.

#1 The QB should be the leader of the team. I understand the coaching problems, but does he have those skills. #2 We were talking about QB ratings for next season and there 10 QB's listed that were his college age that are listed ahead of him.

means absolutely nothing, where was McElroy on that list last year??..and he led his team to the NC game (with alot of help from Ingram and the D). Preseason rankings mean shite!!

is this supposed to be tremendous growth? It seems pretty average to me.

This.

For starters, how the frick is the Idaho QB better than the guy who starts at QB for LSU for the past 14 games?

Second, John Brantley at UF will be better than McElroy, Snead and Jefferson.

Other than that, I don't disagree with the rankings amongst the SEC QBs. We have the fourth best QB in the SEC West. Which means our QB is better than the guy at Auburn and Mississippi State.

Awesome.

Before you explode in anger, take a deep breath and remind yourself: "He's barely 19."

And if you need a blueprint for the improvements Jefferson is capable of making between now and 2010, look no further than his Capital One Bowl counterpart, Penn State's Daryll Clark.

Clark grew from 2,592 yards, 19 touchdowns and 6 interceptions last season to 2,787, 23 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 2009.

Jefferson's statistics this year are similar to what Clark's were a year ago. Imagine where he might be in December 2010.

I think the author is making a joke out of JJ. The whole "barely 19" is obviously a slam on TD posters who spew the same line on here. And to rank him 4th in the SEC, when only 7 are returning, smacks of avg at best. Also, the comparison to Clark, by using his stats, is also a slap. Clark eff. rating '08 = 143.44. Clark eff. rating '09 = 145.66. So the writer is suggesting that JJ will barely improve.

I bet he's reading this thread laughing his arse off at those that took him seriously.

23rd best in the nation.

JJ's 25th, actually, because the retards who made the list apparently don't realize how to rank after ties.

I guess that makes Jefferson better than the following returning SEC QBs...

Mike Hartline, Jr. (Kentucky)
Morgan Newton, Fr. (Kentucky)
Stephen Garcia, So. (S. Carolina)
Larry Smith, So. (Vanderbilt)

Who cares about some stupid preseason list...I would rather have and average QB on a great team than a great QB on an average team

I thought that Mallet was so great that he did not have anything else to learn in college and was coming out ?

I thought that Snead was a senior ? Does he have another year ?

Brantley will be good, but he will take his lumps

JJ has to improve his QB management of the game.

Man, Jake Locker needs to go pro and get his millions in the NFL. Who is talking to this guy ? Does he not think about what Bradford has lost ?
