where do you rank burrow?

wherever you do, daniels is right behind him. They do not have career accolades but as far as a single season, 1-2.

How are some of you this dumb. Name 5 offensive players with a better career. I’ll wait.

Jayden legitimately might be the #1 QB LSU has ever had. Think about that...

Who are you counting? Jerry Stovall was actually a runner up. Many people don’t realize that.

I absolutely love Joe Burrow and was one of the idiots calling for Nuss but JD might be pushing for the best to ever play at LSU. He does things that no other player, at the most important position, has ever done. He if no doubt top 5 and maybe even the greatest. Just doesn’t have a competitive defense.

If we're going all time I'd have him in at least in my Top 20, maybe higher.

In no particular order (more chronological than anything): This is off the top of my head, so I know I forgot some.

Billy Cannon
Joe Burrow
Tommy Casanova
Abe Mickal
Doc Fenton
Gaynell Tinsley
Steve Van Buren
Jimmy Taylor
Johnny Robinson
Roy Winston
Ja'Marr Chase
Andy Hamilton
Ronnie Estay
Justin Jefferson
Jayden Daniels
Alan Faneca
Jerry Stovall
Andrew Whitworth
Glenn Dorsey
Tyrann Mathieu
Patrick Peterson
Charles Alexander
Dalton Hilliard
Josh Reed
Eric Martin
Wendell Davis
Odell Beckham Jr

I don’t see why a pro career matters at all when ranking LSU players all-time. The only thing that should be considered is college performance.

The pros are a whole other level and whole other comparison.

You guys have such recency bias. JD5 is a clear cut top 3 QB all time for LSU. However, to even mention him with Burrow is blasphemy. In what game that meant anything did JD5 come through.

FSU - played awful in 2nd half
Ole Miss - threw terrible interception that got them back into game.
Alabama - drive stalled, interception, injured.

Meanwhile Joe beat the shite out of every team he played, and did it in about 7 games that really meant something. At no point did Joe flounder like JD5 has.

Additionally, Joe had fricking Ed O as his coach vs CBK. Also Joe had Steve Ensminger as the OC.

Again JD5 is a good QB who may get some playing time in the NFL, but Joe may be the best college QB ever and if he can get healthy could end up being an all time NFL QB.

Doesn’t K Faulk still hold the SEC record for all purpose yards?

That’s the thing, when our D was hurt and playing awful in 2019 Burrow kicked it into another gear and put up ridiculous point totals. He was 4-0 vs opponents that scored 30 or more points against us averaging 53.8ppg in those instances. JD is 3-3 averaging 39.3ppg in those instances this season. Not a knock on JD, 39ppg is still incredible but Joe was able to take his game to another level when the situation called for it.

Cannon, Stovall, TM7 & Burrow. Wasn't Alexander 2nd or rd in voting also?

I'm arguing that a Heisman finalist was so good nationally, they need to be considered as top all time Tigers

NFL career should be irrelevant

Well, that’s what I was asking in my post. OP did not specify.

Why clear cut number 2? You know every player, even Burrow, could be unseated at some point. You don’t HAVE to preface every quarterback talk with the “Burrow will always be #1” .

It’s not totally irrelevant because in a lot of cases it helps the younger generations have context with some of the players. For example if you didn’t know anything about Bert Jones and just looked at his stats for LSU you could argue that Herb Tyler was better in college. Jones’ NFL career can help fans who didn’t watch him better understand what kind of player he really was.

Shouldn’t Malik Nabers be ahead of some of those other WRs now?

Daniels will finish this season as the most efficient passer in NCAA History, to go along with his 1000 yard rushing season.

He is without a doubt Top 5 in LSU history, #2 if he brings home the Heisman.

Top 5 for sure but what do you think?

I'm sorry but no. Daniels is an all time great Tiger but I can't put him in the top 5. There are too many elite players to just put him in the top 5.

1. Burrow
2. Billy Cannon
3. Tommy Cassanova
4. Andrew Whitworth
5. Patrick Peterson
6. Glenn Dorsey
7. Corey Webster
8. Alan Faneca
9. Kevin Faulk
10. Tyrann Mathieu
11. Kevin Mawae

I cannot justify putting him in the top 5 but that doesn't mean he isn't an all-time great. Don't diminish the greatness of other LSU all-time greats.
