Billy Cannon
Glenn Dorsey
Josh Reed
Pat Peterson
Tyrann
Kev Faulk
Charles Alexander
Whitworth

Top 5 for sure but what do you think?

Based on your list, there are too many factors. What are we ranking?

Whit has had the longest NFL career and won a Super Bowl. Is he #1?

I love Jayden Daniels and he’s having one of the greatest statistical seasons in LSU history. Let’s slow down on top 5 of all time.

What makes him “clear cut” number 2? If he had the defense Burrow had this would be another dream season.

He’s a Heisman finalist. How many have we had? 4? 5 if Charles Alexander counts

One if the best seasons but he didn’t play his entire career here. I get it’s a new era in cfb with NIL and the portal but to me, a best ever list needs to have longevity, even considering Burrow. (JMO)

Is that the parameter for this? So eliminate all the great defensive players we’ve had because they never win the heisman?

I am really surprised the amount of people not giving him the same credit Burrow got to this point.

Both were here for 2 years, transferred in. Both played good/decent in year one (JD more so). And had absolute monster seasons in year 2.

The only reason Burrow is still more impressive is hindsight. We know what happened in the 3 post season games for Burrow, he never slowed down, and took it into another gear. Jayden may have done the same thing but he wont get the chance, so we will never know.

The way their own respective game plays is so different its hard to compare them to me. Both are wildly impressive and two of the best CFB has seen in a single season basis.

Because he isn’t?

This is the problem though and it isn’t Jayden’s fault. Most all-time greats have proven postseason, stats and accomplishments to back up their regular season production.

The problem with these arguments lately is that all the “context” is bent to JDs favor. Basically anything that favors Burrow is deemed inadmissible and that’s not context it’s bias.

He’s at worst the second best player in LSU history and it isn’t particularly close.

This kind of rhetoric makes me laugh. If Daniels wins the Heisman then yes he is top five all-time LSU. Yes, he would make the Mount Rushmore of LSU greats. He would have won a freaking Heisman and has better stats than a majority of all the previous Heismans!

Pistol Pete
Joe B
Shaq
JD5

That is your Mt.Rushmore if he wins it.

Burrow also played all those top 10 teams. Just think about how good some of those teams were, like alabama and Georgia.

Shite, even texas was good in the first game of the year. Then you have auburn and that defense littered with nfl guys.

Again, it’s the lack of postseason success that’s going to keep him off of the top five list and it’s not his fault.

It’s just reality, we have a national championship pedigree, so it will always be hard for fans to put guys that don’t have championship success on their resume above the best players on championship teams.

If we were Aggie, Baylor, or Louisville it wouldn’t even be a question. Yet we have so many great players that also won SEC and National titles, how do you rank Daniels above some of those guys?

The defense as good as it was barely kept us in the win.
