This is how the negative mind works. They grab onto something to bitch about and it festers with them forever. It's fascinating.

We had to throw the ball a lot to keep us in games and try and put up points to keep up since our defense was so damn bad that year.

mmm... not exactly. the D was inconsistent, it actually had some good games (and a couple terrible ones). the INTs hurt though. the pick 6s for obvious reasons, but even the picks that weren't instant TDs.

there were more than a few occasions I wondered why we were throwing so much with a QB whose confidence was getting worse by the week while his INT total was increasing. we had a 1000 yd rusher and a good OL to run behind. and Quinn.

i like JL as much as the next guy....he's a great person. but these numbers arent that great. he was mediocre...unfortunately so was the other QB on the team.

Bull. JL carried the water for most of that last season. Stubbed his toe vs. Bama in regular season and Miles pulled him for JJ. What happened in the NC game is unforgivable. Miles will forever be in my doghouse for that. Why he still gets a pass is one of the great mysteries of life.

Why do people say stupid BS like that? JL was started by Miles 8 times in 2011 and would have started all yr. if not for his clusterfrick performance vs. Bama. As JL's dad said, if you don't want to lose your starting job then don't throw 2 picks vs. Bama. No one is to blame for JL losing his starting gig but JL. Much like no one is to blame for Jennings losing his starters gig but Jennings.

I listened to it. It was very vanilla. Mainly just reminiscing about JLs playing and how awesome it was to play Auburn and how great it felt to win, and beat UF too... not bad to listen to, but nothing earthshaking as predicted.

Agreed I wonder what people would say if Les had kept JL in during the Game of the Century and we had lost terribly.

Seriously? I'm gonna guess you don't have much of an idea what JJ's bio looks like. I'll help you out...
quote:

Played in 42 games, starting 32 times at quarterback ... Went 24-8 as a starter ... Started at least one game in all four seasons in which he played, including two as a true freshman in 2008 ... Threw for 4,733 yards and 34 TDs during his career, including career-highs of 2,166 yards and 17 touchdowns as a sophomore in 2009 ... Overall, connected on 398-of-678 passes with 20 interceptions ... In 2009, was the youngest starting quarterback in the SEC and the youngest to start a season-opener for LSU since Y.A. Tittle in 1945 ... Ranks fifth for career wins by a starting quarterback at LSU with 24 ... Tied for fifth in LSU history for career TD passes with 34, equaling Jamie Howard (1992-95) ... Is sixth in LSU history in career passing yards (4,733), sixth in completion percentage (58.7), sixth in career completions (398) and sixth in attempts (678) ... Accounted for 46 TDs during his career - 34 passing, 12 rushing ... Rushed for 1,018 yards and 12 touchdowns during his LSU career ... The 1,018 rushing yards ranks first among quarterbacks in school history and the 12 rushing TDs is fifth by a QB ... Holds the LSU single-season rushing record for a quarterback with 450 yards during the 2010 season.

And yes, I wanted to see Lee get more of a chance at the end of 2011.

Stubbed his toe?!?! You mean looked like complete garbage, deer in headlights. We are lucky Les pulled him for JJ or Bama would have embarrassed LSU that night with a Pick 6 Lee throwing softballs

how many times had JJ threw picks and/or shite the bed and we never saw lee? Just because he threw two picks against bama was no need to stop playing him altogether. JJ was hot garbage in the SECCG and in NOLA on 1-9. How many times did Lee bail out JJ and les in 2010? UT? UF? bama?

This hypocrisy is pathetic.

Because if you google JLee's historical performances vs. Bama (or any aggressive defense that uses pressure to disrupt an offense), it's a pretty shitty stat line.

No one with a brain thinks JLee was going to come in and win that game. We might have lost 35-0. I still think we should have put him in (because when nothing's working, anything can be an improvement), but to act as though this was the biggest coaching frickup of all time is beyond asinine.

And Miles doesn't even know, let alone give a frick, that you have a doghouse.

JL#12 is nothing but class. So much potential that he could have been if he wouldn't have been put in terrible position in the 2008 season.

I really don't think he was "ruined" because of that. lots of guys get thrown in early.

he was just unable to "mentally erase" the pick 6's and move on. also, our OL did not give him the time he needed to scan the field and make his decisions. who knows why; either it took him to long, the coaches called too many plays requiring extended protection, or our OL just couldn't block long enough. I think it was a combo of all three.

JL is most definitely a class guy.

If this is true then why did we get to witness a clusterfrick performance on 1/9 with no change? JJ could do no wrong in Les' eyes and was put in at the first opportunity. I never understood Les' thinking to continue to play him in a losing effort (and several close call games), but he gets paid to coach the team and I'm just a fan that likes to watch winning.

Glad that fiasco is over.

I remember South Carolina almost taking an INT back and Trindon comes flying in to stop the guy around the 2. D held up pretty well for a couple downs, but they got in on either 3rd or 4th down. tough stuff.
