According to Orgeron in the press conference he is playing the F which is basically the H back and is coached by Ensminger.

I'm actually more excited to hear this than moving to a true WR position. That's dangerous, in a good way.

And he is not a 4.4 guy. People don't understand how fast that is. Probably 4.6, which is crazy fast for an Hback

I heard Harris was a straight up baller but I thought it was another player hyping him up. I'm shocked actually. This kid must got something. I thought it was BS, guess not.

think that this is great news. It seems like a great way for JS to start his career at LSU. We all know how stacked the Tigers are at Safety so for Stevens to be able to transition to rec is great for him and the team.

I I'll bet that Canada got seriously pumped when this transition was official.

We are stacked at safety. We have two reliable seniors in Battle and Paris. We signed two solid guys last year in Monroe and Lewis. And Harris and Delpit have both impressed already. Also don't forget Xavier Lewis who already has some quality reps.

I think the coaches decided that Stevens is simply too good of an athlete to keep off the field. Canada clearly sees a role for him and will find ways to get him the ball. I love this move.

So we have a 5 star safety switching positions to be a back up receiver? How did O sell this move to the kid?

By telling him, "We're gonna put the ball in your hands so you can make plays for us on offense."

Not really that difficult.

Other receivers have something to say about that. They can make plays too. Can't just assume he'll get the ball. Has to be earned. Don't see him jumping any of the 1s

Just for the record. Jarvis Landry ran a 4.6 at the NFL combine and a 4.51 at his LSU pro day. He did just fine at both LSU and in Miami.

Hate to screw up a good debate with facts.

You think selling backup safety to backup receiver is a hard sell? Looks fairly lateral to me. But two things favor the receiver position, first, there is less competition, and second, most kids want the ball in their hands.

We'll get the ball in your hands so you can use your freakish skills to make plays. Guy is a baller, good size at 6'2" 216, and even practiced at WR during the UA game week. Heck he even has the right number - #3

Best of luck to him and all our Tigers, hammer down!

This is a good move, we have plenty of safeties. Wide receiver is a big concern this year, Jacoby can play there too. Saw him in high school, guy is a big time athlete.

We will play a ton more receivers than safeties this year.

Watching some of his UA AA practice footage, and some HS clips ... not as tall but reminds me a bit of Clemson's Mike Williams the way he attacks the ball at its highest point and uses his body to create leverage.

Interesting move but I'm intrigued to see how it plays out. Another dynamic weapon on offense is always a need, but we've never lacked for quality DBs.

Watching the clips posted in this thread, I'm pleasantly surprised how good Stevens looks fundamentally catching the football.

Might not be a good comparison but Jacoby might be used how Ole Miss used Evan Engram.

Exactly what I'm thinking. Coming out of HS, Engram was an inch taller and 4 pounds lighter than Stevens is now (6'3 210 to 6'2 214). Engram was a little bit faster, but they look like similar type athletes.

I hope this speaks volumes about safety depth and not the lack of talent at receiver.

I think it's more of lack of depth at receiver

O has stated multiple times now that the base formation will always have 3 WRs on the field.....
