Jacob Pearson drafted by Angels with 85th pick

Better win the whole fricking thing this year

I'm going to assume Pearson is gone. But the Angels are bad at this whole baseball thing, so there is still the tiniest bit of hope on him. Still pretty much nil that he's coming to LSU.

Before or after he was picked? This is an important distinction.

After being drafted. Apparently he had a "number" in his head. Idk if that means draft round or money. Obviously this isn't the horses mouth so there's my disclaimer lol

I know, I know. Just saying it would be exceedingly rare to pull a high school kid drafted in that spot.

I think it is easy to talk a good game about going to college until someone wants to hand you a novelty check with $750,000 on it.

You're forgetting about taxes

He is likely getting much more then slot here. This deal was done before the pick. Out of 10 rounds last year,400 or so players drafted, only 2 did NOT sign pro contracts. These teams are not going to chance wasting a pick because they won't sign. I can almost promise that a $ figure was agreed upon before the AA's made this pick. JP will be playing MLB within 4 to 5 years.
