I agree. But I have a feeling he wants to get back to the NFL.

If that's the case then I'm cool with taking a gamble. If Orgeron is a failure at least we'll be stacked with talent for the next coaching staf.

Hopefully come up with a good list of viable candidates over the weekend

I do like that clancy has already been contacted

People don't realize how shitty ole miss was before Ed. He wasn't good there but didn't have a lot of help. Started to get some recruits and got show the door. He has said he has from that experience at ole miss. I think it showed when he was the guy at USC

If CP says no, this is about the best scenario LSU fans can hope for, given the circumstances.

Not sure why people keep saying this. Gotta be some assistant coaches in the league who would be willing to go to college as a DC.

Lots of quality coaches out there who are waiting for their turn to call/lead a defense.

ok then, who? It's still a gamble either way.

At least you somewhat know what you're getting in coach O.

Les is crazy if he actually lets Orgeron call defensive plays. LSU needs an elite coach and playcaller, not a recruiter. LSU recruiting is fine without Orgeron.

Has coach O ever run a high ranked D? What type of D does coach O run?

No way. My friend "summers" with Saban. Told me that Nick and Mal Moore were flying back from Miami for first presser and Mal said, "We just got the best coach in America..." Saban disagreed, "I'm not sure about that... But I do believe I'm the best recruiter. College Football is 90% getting the talent... Les does OK, but mainly because Louisiana only has one major college program. When we had our best teams, the numbers show those players almost without exception made it to the NFL... No. Disagree. It's about recruiting.

Agree - you get Top 5 recruiting every season and no excuse not to be in the Top 12 - 20 annually. You should also compete for the top assuming you have an average competent QB

he coached D line for the saints. I'll take him. move brick to LB coach.

plus he can recruit with the likes of larry porter, frank wilson, saban, etc.

Nope. Someone has a link showing he was DC at USC. He was the D line coach- Monte Kiffen was the DC. Kiffen went to Dallas and Pendergast took his place and greatly improved the results.

It is more about the Jim's and Joe's than X's and O's. Coaches in college and pro know the game, schemes, etc. So it is a wash. It is about getting the better athletes to match the playcalling. You know the SEC teams are going to beat Sunbelt teams just because they have the better players. Alabama is going to beat Vandy for the same reason.
