HIring O as DC is not a top tier hire. He may get the job done but it does not make a statement except that LSU is still doing business as usual which results in more mediorcrity.

WRITE THE CHECK, HIRE CP

THe only other choice close to that would be to lure M away from Aubbie but that aint happening

everyone agrees

but the "top tier" is highly unlikely

O is a secondary hire, and much better than kevin steele or manny fricking diaz

Clancy as DC - Coach O on the D in a combo of responsibilities would be the best possible solution

If we can trade 1.3 for the Chief for more money and Clancy/Ogre this is a win for Alleva.

yeah but I don't think O is a horrible hire as some people make it out to be. He has proven to be a great recruiter and maybe there are some holes in the defense when it comes to play calling but we will still have top talent coming in, which is just as important.

You need to reword that or Russian will be here soon asking you to call the USC athletic department.

if CP turns us down or wants us to wait a month so he can sort our NFL vacancies, who else is available that is a "top tier DC"

do not say muschamp

in terms of guys who have never been hired as DC, you're not going to find a guy with a better pedigree than coach O

look at the defensive coaches he's coached under

I'd like to hear some more proven names as candidates before we settle on Coach O.

There are quite a few out there.

of the names tossed up so far behind CP this seems like our best option.

If we can't get CP or Coach O I'll be very disappointed in our staff

Brick has been a DC before and ran the on the field stuff for Chavis while here.

It would be O's defense, but he would lean on Haley just as Chavis did.

Additionally, Brick has coached LBs at three separate spots and was a LB in college. So sliding him to LB coach is a possibility.

Coach O would do great here. If you think the talent we put on field is crazy now just wait until he gets on the recruiting trail.

An SEC school hired Orgeron as a head coach. USC placed him as interim head coach. But he can't call and coordinate a defense?? Really people!!

This. He's been a head coach twice. Quite a few USC people wanted to offer him the job when Sark got it too.
