I was researching for another thread when I came across this Highlight video of DJ. We are going to be some happy fans watching what this guy is going to be doing with the ball in a few weeks.

Can we replace 'this guy' with a player name?

That video shows me two things:
1. Chark is good and could be a star this year.
2. Etling needs very badly to learn to step into his longer throws. Even though most on this video were complete, he almost misses his window a lot.

Goddamn that kid is smooth. He's burning folks and it don't even look like he's trying.

it's more of a timing thing. he doesn't have a string arm so he has to make that decision to throw a couple milliseconds early. I think he can get his timing down for the up coming season.

And the back injury. Not being able to put all of yourself into a throw is definitely going to cause some weak throws and rainbows on the deep ball.

You are making my point for me. If he steps into the throw, he helps timing since the ball will get there faster. For someone who does not have the strongest arm, he needs to get his technique better to mitigate it.

What if thats the only way he could throw without pain? Ever consider that?

My bad, I wasn't sure by the way you said "more of timing thing".

The reason why he has been successful is that he does recognize quickly and still is able to make plays, but we really need him to take that next step so to speak.

If he cleans that up, he could be really good with Canada even though he is not the most talented QB as far as arm strength.

Nice find!

Hopefully he can have the type of season that makes LSU a top destination for WRs again

Calm down dude, I was NOT bashing the guy. For whatever reason he was doing it, he clearly could be better if he cleans it up.

I like the guy, he is a tough SOB and really want to see him succeed.

Whether it was considered or not, what would it matter? He still needs to be a tad quicker with his throws. He does a whole lot right, and I think he is going to do great this year...but he needs a touch more zip at times. For what ever the reason.

Two things I saw that clearly stood out were his focus and confidence.

I'll admit that I doubted whether he deserved the "7" jersey (low profile recruit, no flashy display of jaw dropping numbers or physical dominance, yet). But I am hoping that he blows up and has a great season and gives us many more of the great plays as from those highlights. I'm hoping he earns the respect of greatness that others who have worn "7" before him.

We all knew he had great potential from way back.

Looks great: good hands, good vision, good route running, good speed, good open field moves. What else does he need?
