re: Divinity's Playing Size - msbargas
Agree tha speed and coverage ability are more important than just size. Also have to wonder how much of those 28 lbs result in functional weight gain....

re: Divinity's Playing Size - msbargas
"The path to that goal began this offseason and continues during preseason camp. Divinity is up to 246 pounds, for example. He arrived at LSU last summer at 218.
He may well have a breakthrough season, but not necessarily from the weight gain. There have been numerous LBs much lig...

re: Preview of 1969 team - msbargas
LOL "Casanova was an afterthought in the recruiting wars (scrimmage, really) of 1968 – a kid who seemed to have potential, but certainly not a "can't miss'' prospect and certainly not a prime target for dozens of football programs. In a nutshell, Casanova was a "take-him-or-leave-him" pro...

Preview of 1969 team - msbargas
I found this old article that previewed the 1969 team, which was arguably one of the best teams to not make it as #1. There were a lot of questions then, just as there are now: https://www.si.com/vault/1968/09/09/631509/16-lsu...

re: So how much should Guice by playing right now? - msbargas
According to DandyDon:
In the run game, Derrius Guice wasn’t pushed very hard (playing it safe with him) but accounted for 23 yards on seven carries
Perhaps CEO wants to avoid unnecessary injuries. Like most recently LF but also dating back to Broussard who ever was the same af...

re: It's going to be exciting to watch this guy in Canada's offense - msbargas
We all knew he had great potential from way back. Looks great: good hands, good vision, good route running, good speed, good open field moves. What else does he need?...

re: Myles Brennan looking good! - msbargas
Those 260# linemen from the 70s were much leaner than the ones you see today. They didn't have big guts like those 330 pounders you see today. They were every bit as strong and they could move more quickly, delivering big hits. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JnjlIx3QkYU...

His weight shouldn't be an issue. Bert Jones was also 6'3" and he generally weighed around 210 as a Jr or Sr. As freshman he may have been well below 200....

re: "No fullbacks" according to O - Why? - msbargas
Well yeah, football formations have evolved, even in the old days, a good offensive coordinator found ways to make his play calling less predictable. It's misleading to assume that they always used the I-formation. More common was the split back or pro set formation which allowed for more options: ...
For him, shedding 20 lbs or shedding the slow weight for some extra muscle I could see him at 245.
