re: Exactly how good was Tommy Casanova? - msbargas
In 1971 LSU played Alabama on a nationally televised game on a Saturday night losing 7-14, but Casanova did not play because of an injury. Someone check me on this, but i believe i’m right…. Just a great talent
He actually did play in that game. Alabama was held to 0 passing yards...

re: Exactly how good was Tommy Casanova? - msbargas
He was always the best RB on the team but Cholly Mac was like Miles in that he insinuated we'd see a lot of TC on offense but it never materialized.
No, Mac was a much better on the field coach than Miles. He did let TC play tailback, but not in his senior year. Probably because o...

re: Exactly how good was Tommy Casanova? - msbargas
My dad talks about him like he was PP7 or LF7
Well he was an equally dominant player in his day. He was about the same height as PP7, but not as thick and not as fast. PP7 ran a 4.3 40. TC37 ran a 4.5. Having said that, straight ahead speed isn't everything. Both were excellent ...
I was really young but I'm pretty sure he played mostly CB at LSU, and safety in the pros.
Right. He could have played CB in pros, but he played with Lamar Parish, one of the best cover guys in the league at CB. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qKP-hECs8M0 He was only a second ...

re: Donte Jackson pulled Hammy in 100m - msbargas
Can anyone cite an article describing his injury this year? There are a number of articles describing his injury back in 2016 like this one http://lsu.247sports.com/Article/Donte-Jackson-one-of-college-footballs-fastest-46080937...

re: Fournette vs Ole Miss & Guice vs Texas A&M - msbargas
Most of Fournette's gains came on big plays. 1 or 2 missed tackles and he was gone. Guice had to work a lot more for his yards. Both were great!...

re: How about this all time Tiger Defense - msbargas
"Capone was a good one but having seen him play as well he was not the dominant player that Michael Brooks or Eric Hill were." Like Estay, Capone was another one of Mac's smallish players who exceeded expectations in college. He was small even by the standards of the 1970s. He was all-American bu...

re: How about this all time Tiger Defense - msbargas
I did see Estay play and he was a great DT
Estay was sort of an enigma. At 225 lb he was much to small for that position. Yes, even in the 70s DTs were generally much bigger than that (250-260) I recall quite vividly in the 1971 Alabama game when Estay was pancaked by John Hannah...

re: LSU's Top 5 Quarterbacks Ever? - msbargas
Mike Miley was an enigma to me. He started out very well in the 1973 season when LSU went 9-0, but had mediocre performances during the last 3 games where they went 0-3....

re: All Time LSU Defense - msbargas
Yes, on an interview he stated that he ran a 4.5, which makes sense since he ran a 9.7 100 yard dash on the track team, but that was nowhere near as fast as Al Cofee who ran something like 9.4. However he spent much of his senior year recovering from a hamstring injury, so when he was evaluated by t...

re: All Time LSU Defense - msbargas
Just a few observations: AJ Duhe played DL in college, although he was LB in the pros Tommy Casanova played CB in college although he played safety in the pros (he didn't have the elite speed that they wanted in a corner, he ran a 4.5 or 4.6 40)...

"I don't have any regrets whatsoever," said Hilliard, who declined most interview requests after the Saints elected to not offer him a contract for the 1994 season. "I think I had a blessed career in college and also in the NFL. I had a good time along the way, and I did a lot of things people didn'...
