Whether it was considered or not, what would it matter? He still needs to be a tad quicker with his throws. He does a whole lot right, and I think he is going to do great this year...but he needs a touch more zip at times. For what ever the reason.

Well I think fans will be happy since Canada, Guice and Chark have all said that Etling has much more velocity since surgery. Chark specifically noted that he no longer has to wait on the ball coming out of breaks. It's on time AND on target.

Hopefully this is a sign of things to come.

What in the hell are you talking about?

BH had all the arm talent in the world, but for some reason could not put it together. It has been a very common theme for all QB's under the previous regime, as whatever their talent level, the staff did not coach them up to correct where they were lacking. BH relied on his arm too much and seemed to not be able to get the timing right, the very opposite of Etling.

Before you get upset about whoever your "favorite QB" is, all the blame falls on the coaches, there seemed to be a clear pattern here.

I hope BH excels at UNC and Etling kicks arse here.

I am also hoping that Etling's off season surgery will help him step into the throws better.

One receiver had said Etling appeared to be throwing much better so far.

One thing I love about Chark is his toughness. You always see him fighting until the play is no longer available to be had. His face mask was grabbed but he never lost focus, lots of kids would have just popped up throwing their hands up not him. He never is complaining either, he's the perfect leader out there for the WRs and I hope he takes that position and runs with it. I could follow that guy and I'm not really a follower unless I see people who are like me out there doing what leaders should do.

That position has been led by some ok guys the last couple of years but since Jarvis and Beckem Jr, there really hasn't been any great leaders. He's the next one IMO.

There's also a good picture of Etling in there and you can see the difference in his physical maturation from last year to this year. Add that to the fact that his back will be healed and Etling might just surprise people. I heard someone the other day say something like, the same thing was said for every other QB especially Harris and while I agree, the situations are totally different.

The mental aspect of Etling was always there, it's more physical with Etling. With Harris it was much more mental and in that way it's completely different. Looks to me that Etling has taken care of the physical issues which slowed him down last year. I mean time will tell but with the addition of Canada, the back surgery, and then him looking much more mature physically, should help tremendously with his issues he had last year. That could also help him grow mentally as well with the emergence of new found confidence, him being much more comfortable in this new environment ect. This thing could be happening!

I'm ready for the Etling Chark combo to get rolling. They should give defenses fits this year.
