What do you think currently makes baseball the #2 sport? And what are you looking for from the basketball program for it to overtake it? Final 4s? Attendance numbers?

There has already been a time when basketball was bigger than baseball at LSU. In fact, it was the #1 sport at LSU for a little while there.
If you think that LSU basketball was #1 at LSU in the early 1990s, then you have to admit that LSU baseball is so far ahead of LSU basketball the last 25 years that it will take 10 years of stellar basketball to change that. You popped off about LSU selling alot of $5 tickets to the Superdome for one big matchup as proof. Well at that same time LSU football was at it's all time worst, and they were still drawing 60,000 at the least attended games.
By your statement, I'm assuming you meant that LSU basketball was more successful. By that measure LSU basketball has 6 national titles to go until they catch up with baseball.

The problem with Brady is that he would have a great team once every few years and the years in between would be full of suck. It's hard to build a fan base when you finish 10th, 9th, 2nd, 8th, 7th, 8th, 1st, etc.

This right here, has to be the absolute dumbest fricking thing anyone has every said on this site. Wow.
This is why your post, that could have had some respectful points to it, loses any chance it had at relevancy. Not even a title? But a appearance in the final four? You would trade SIX national titles, for once being in the top 4? Just god damn ignorant.
And people talk about baseball fans with this shite.
I guess we can't just be fans of LSU.

So you're saying a team needs to be consistently good to draw interest? No shite. The problem is that football and baseball have been vastly superior to basketball in that regard.....hence being third in the pecking order.....

He was calling LSU basketball the #1 sport on campus in the early 90s. Whatever measure he is using, he was wrong.
Attendance - football
Success - Track and Field, Baseball
Attendance - football
Success - Track and Field, Baseball

I didn't dispute that.

Maybe. It could be sooner. Who knows.

False.

To become the bigger, more popular program? Lol no.

I don't understand why there is such a heated argument between LSU fans as if the basketball and baseball teams are in opposition of each other. Both teams are part of the LSU athletic department and are sports played by student athletes that represent the University. Shut the frick up and support both.

Exactly. I mentioned this earlier. It's hard to gain traction if the team sucks every other year. If the team can be exciting and successful for a streak of seasons, it would be a remarkable turnaround IMO.

I don't think that's an issue here. We all do obviously just debating the hierarchy of the two..... don't tell me to shut the F up son!!

I pull for all sports at LSU to win. I attend some more than others, but my interest in the big 3 are pretty solid. There is no good reason that LSU shouldn't be competitive in all 3 major sports. LSU basketball should average 7,000 - 8,000 with a couple of 10,000+ games a year. Students at LSU should want to be at the basketball games. Unfortunately, the awful product on the floor the last 8 years (as a whole) have drained the support.

One issue is that LSU has a lot of baseball only fans. They are like the people who are North Carolina basketball fans and Miami football fans.
They don't follow the other sports, so they don't want any attention or notoriety being allocated to them.
I am happy LSU has a successful baseball program and would never take anything away from it. But it's a regional sport that nationally is a blip on the radar. Even the NCAA doesn't give a shite about it, as evidenced by it's low scholarship level.
Men's college basketball is far and away the No. 2 sport in college and it should be the No. 2 sport (if not No. 1) at all schools. Even women's basketball is ahead of baseball in most statistical categories.
If college baseball is the No. 2 sport, then your school is failing as a nationally renowned athletic department.

You actually think thousands of ND fans traveled to LSU for a regular season game?
