LSU basketball had a higher average attendance than baseball just last year dumbass. It's also had their higher single game total as well.

Who gives a shite about leading the NCAA in baseball attendance?

10,500 per game is more than the vast majority of college basketball teams draw

I can explain it, basketball was, once again, horrible while baseball is, once again, a top ten program.
Now that basketball has hired a coach, basketball fans are sticking their chest out about it. All I see on this thread are a bunch of idiot basketball fans, who are even more deluded than football fans. And btw, frick basketball.

I'm sure notre dame had nothing to do with that number.

Very little. Dale wanted to get the largest attendance in basketball history and scheduled the game in the dome. I belieeve Shoe Town supported cheap upper level seats and Dale promoted the game hard and hit the attendance record.

Never said they can't or won't but 10,500 fans a game for any sport not named football is impressive. The fact that it's baseball makes it even more impressive. Sure it has a lot to do with the success we've had (duh) but I will never understand why some of our fan base tries to be so obtuse when downplaying how popular LSU baseball is and will continue to be. The only reason basketball has been more profitable than baseball is the TV deals that come with playing basketball in a P5 conference that baseball doesn't have. As far as our fanbase is concerned and the support the programs get, basketball hasn't been a clear #2 since Shaquille O'Neal

And until the basketball team sustains success, something we haven't done in a quarter century, that's not going to change

The baseball only fans here ruin the fun of LSU baseball. It's the worst group on TD.

I think the point of the OP is to express excitement over the new hire; the apathy that had progressed during the Johnson and Jones eras was killing the program. That was embarrassing, because men's basketball is the 2nd biggest sport at LSU, and nationally... and it is #1 at a lot of schools.

I'll say this as a fan who was a student at LSU during the late 80's and early 90's- baseball is a nice sport here. It's neat to see LSU win national titles, it's cool to be amongst the very best at something. I've been to the old Box a lot of times, and the new one several times. Never went to Omaha, only considered it maybe a couple times.
Last time LSU made the Final Four I was there in Indy. I've been to a lot of bowl games. I would trade every baseball championship for a Final Four appearance, any day.

In a perfect world I hope LSU wins everything (as I hope they win women's gymnastics this season, and it was neat that they won men's golf recently), but the pecking order is clear, and set in stone. Football > men's Basketball > baseball > all others.
